Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
6-8 weeks - not good , as I have liked the way Hickey was going this year.
I guess it gives an opportunity to develop Loner over the next few weeks.

Do , or Do not , There is no try.
Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
This is why we have depth in the ruck. No need to panic. Longer gets a shot and Hicks can get his foot right. We have good cover in a virtually all positions now.

Great depth?
We are one injury away from having a bloke who has played about five games of football ever

Masiter and Lee have been playing ruck for Sandy....And Holmes. Not ideal but not like we'll have to throw Riewoldt in the ruck.Goose is king wrote:Great depth?

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
Looks like there's plenty of room for any rookie who wants to put their hand up, lots of injuries all of a sudden. Next six or eight weeks crucial for Shenton if he's going to have an AFL future.
Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
The clubs resting Hickey against mediocre ruck competition IMO.BigMart wrote:Damn it
I had pencilled this match in as a couldn't wait
Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
Unfortunately Ben will teach young Billy a lesson, however the conditions will negate Ben a bit in the air. Billy should beat Ben in the tap outs, but Ben will influence the contest more around the ground
Longer's physical style will suit conditions a little better than Hickeys style anyway IMO

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
Exactly. You can't have unlimited depth. Stanley has been rucking pretty damn well as relief and could probably step up to main ruck if he absolutely had to. People here were questioning having both Hickey and Longer on the list not realising how much stuff will go down over the next few years - injuries, form, reports, trades, resting etc.Old Mate wrote:Masiter and Lee have been playing ruck for Sandy....And Holmes. Where does it say 6 to 8 weeks on saints.com.au?

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
I'm excited to see Longer have a decent opportunity over the next couple of months, if he remains injury free. He's more talented than Hickey but behind a little in development. Should be a good test for him.BigMart wrote:Unfortunately Ben will teach young Billy a lesson, however the conditions will negate Ben a bit in the air. I just checked and the article has been edited. Sneaky bastards.magnifisaint wrote:Where does it say 6 to 8 weeks on saints.com.au?
This was copied and pasted from the original article and posted on BigFooty:
"Longer's inclusion is at the expense of Tom Hickey, who is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a foot injury."

Using Riewoldt in the ruck is as silly as using Black Caviar to pull a milk cart.Old Mate wrote:Masiter and Lee have been playing ruck for Sandy....And Holmes. Not ideal but not like we'll have to throw Riewoldt in the ruck.Goose is king wrote:Great depth?

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
Why is anyone really surprised by this?
Young players get injured more so than seasoned regulars. s*** happens and we move on.
This give Billy Longer a chance to develop further and potentially give us an idea that we can plat two rucks and Stanley into the future.
If Riewoldt goes into the ruck I riot. What gobbledegook.

Re: Hickey- Foot Injury
Foot injuries are hard to predict.
Still the priority this year is the future and in developing our players. This will give Longer a good crack at it...
.and if found wanting we can play Stanley as No 1 and bring Lee up for crack.
It will build depth for us.
