Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs - Rd 7 v Hawks
I've got nothing against C.Jones at all, just thinking of ways to include some up and coming players...Jones is not a match winner and I don't think he's in the automatic selection category if we're serious about rebuilding...if we're going to play youngsters, someone has to miss out....if we don't at least give younger players a chance to shine we'll have another Tom Curren case where someone who is clearly up to it and potentially superior at AFL level wastes 1-2 season's in VFL when they could be chalking up valuable afl game time and building towards our next best 22 to challenge in a couple of years...luc1966 wrote:That old chestnut again. Will one day get credit for the way he plays. Stick it up them cjst_Trav_ofWA wrote:you cant be serious !!! CJ was possibly the only player to keep us in the game in the second qtr last week .... if CJ is dropped after that game then i reckon there might be at least 18 changes made to the teams as there were that many who had worse games then CJSaint wagga wrote:Schnieder for Templeton (inj)
Lee for Savage (form + team balance for hawks 3 ruck/forwards)
Weller for C.Jones or Saunders (Preferrably C.Jones as Saunders is the future)
Acres in as sub for someone else, not sure who though??

Publicly announcing your selection before it's out is not a good look.CURLY wrote:FQF wrote:Could Weller get in trouble for that??

Gilbert has just been put on the LTI list.
Seems strange considering Pierce and Wright are already there.
Weller will be upgraded, so he takes one spot. Assuming Eli gets demoted back to the rookie list, that still leaves two rookie upgrades available.
Maybe we'll see Shenton play in the next couple of weeks. He would be the next in line on VFL form.

Who gives a toss. The teams are announced at a ridiculous time these days while most people are at local training.

Do you really think that most football fans are amateur players? The time is what it is, there's a reason you rarely hear of leaked teams.CURLY wrote:FQF wrote:

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs - Rd 7 v Hawks
ST KILDA has made five changes to the team that was defeated by Brisbane in Wellington last week, selecting debutant Blake Acres, elevated rookie Maverick Weller, Tom Simpkin, Billy Longer and Adam Schneider for the clash with Hawthorn.
Three of the five omissions are due to injury, with Luke Dunstan the latest Saint to go down following an incident at training on Thursday.
"It's disappointing for Luke," Alan Richardson told SAINTS.com.au on Thursday afternoon.
"He's been really impressive as a young man. His attack on the footy and attack on the opposition has been as good as anyone on the team. It gives the opportunity for another young player to come in and play a role for us through the midfield.
"Maverick Weller will play a bit through there and Blake Acres will play through there too so that's exciting."

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs - Rd 7 v Hawks
Longer's inclusion is at the expense of Tom Hickey, who is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a foot injury. Longer now has an opportunity to establish himself in the side after playing nine games at Brisbane and debuting for the Saints in round four against Adelaide.
As expected, Adam Schneider will return to the senior team after he sat out last week's Anzac Day clash in Wellington due to suspension. The left-footer was St Kilda's only multiple goal-kicker the last time these two teams met - booting three majors in round 20 last year
Finally, Tom Simpkin will play his first game in the red, white and black since round 19 last season, replacing Josh Bruce who has been omitted.
