Eli injured

Post: # 1454497Post St Loxton »

Broken arm, looked to be around the elbow joint. Landed awkwardly and rolled on it.
Unlucky for the young lad, presumably a fair bit of time off.
Does that mean his rookie spot in the seniors can be replaced immediatley?

We should try putting him on the LTI. Maybe the AFL won't notice.

It doesn't matter anyway because Wright is on the list.

Sad for him, that slow mo shot of him holding it after it happened looked like pure agony.

In maverick I would assume, when do sandy play

Tough break for the kid (pun intended). But from what he's shown he's got a great future so it will frustrating for him but he'll just have to cool his heels and heal (pun intended). Will miss his energy on the field and the crowd going mental when he kicks a goal.

Fingers crossed it is a break that doesn't require surgery, or if it does it is relatively uncomplicated...worst case would be fracture dislocation, really hope it's not a bad disloc shoulder requiring a reco...

From Richo's pressed "AR: Eli has broken his arm and won't come back tomorrow on the flight. He will have surgery next week.
".... Hopefully prognosis is 12 weeks, no worse

I hope he stays in NZ for a week so the swelling subsides before flying back.

Shame for the kid.
Quite possibly was the difference in the result.
If Eli played out the match we probably win.

Interesting comments from the coach. . Said something about how important it is to get games into players 'early in their careers'.

While Weller is an obvious inclusion - if this is the coaches philosophy then I would not be surprised if we see Acres sooner rather than later.....

I wish him all the best in his recovery. I fell & broke my elbow in mid February, didn't have surgery & am still having problems so I hope the surgery aids in the healing process.

If his parents have passports (they are Tasmanians who aren't the worlds biggest travellers remember), then should the club fly them to Welly to be with their son?

I think so. That's the sort of thing that defines a club's culture.

I'd be happy to visit him in hospital as would a few other supporters I spoke to last night, but not sure if that's appropriate.

Take him in a pot of gumbo and some lemonade.

Could this hinder him getting an upgrade onto to seniors list next year ?

to me he has shown allot of potential and i wouldn't like to think that some other grade could draft him because we vacillated on the issue .

Nice word that- vacillated

to fluctuate in one's opinions; be indecisive

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

He's locked to us for another year. But I agree with stinger, he'll be upgraded at the end of the year.

Not sure what that means for Minchington and Shenton - they're running out of time fast.

Yep. Agree.

IMO in a month or two the club should say to Eli if he commits to a solid rehab and keeps his fitness up to whatever level is acceptable given his injury then he'll be upgraded next season. It's important it's conditional to help keep his motivation up during rehab.

Who owns your house?
Does it have mortgage?

Minchington and Shenton are both in their third year as rookies.
They either earn a senior upgrade at years end or their AFL careers are over.
For every senior upgrade someone has to be cut from the senior list.
At this point in time I would expect Templeton and Weller are ahead of them in getting senior upgrades for next year.
The club will try two new rookies with low pick numbers.
Minchington and Shenton will be hoping Templeton and Weller remain rookies again next year.

We've got Maister, TDL and Milera to delist at the end of year which will help Weller and Eli get promoted.

As for Sir Lendog, I'm not currently 100% convinced he will retire. I reckon if his form holds Richo won't delist him, and he'd be mad to turn down a 300K a year contract given he has a family now!
