Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
I don't understand why people think that's important to have Savage in for NZ. Apart from his family and friends nobody is going to go just to see him.
It helps PR but it won't affect the sales, people will go if they want to see the game not because someone they don't know but comes from their country happens to be playing.
How much integrity would our selection process have if we selected people we thought the crowd might like to see regardless of their form. Let's put in Spencer White, who cares how he's going and who cares that none of the players and coaching staff think he warrants selection.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
If Schneider cops a week - then Milera has to come in.
Maybe Weller or Savage for Eli as well.

OUT.. Schneider (Disq.) Templeton (rested).
IN Milera. Savage.
Maybe Gwilt for Fisher as well.
We dont normally make a lot of changes after a win.

Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
Gwilt made three horrible clangers that resulted in goals but otherwise had his best game; doubt he'll be dropped. It will be very interesting to see if Savage plays - his VFL game was good but Weller was far better and Fisher is a likely inclusion. It would be very strange to deprive Chips of a run in the VFL if he isn't in the senior side.
Ideally from a marketing perspective we'd want both Savage (NZ) and Templeton (marketable cult figure) in the side. From a purely football perspective, I'm not sure I'd play either this week.

He will still play in the VFL side if he doesnt play on Friday. All over there will if fit and didnt play in the main game.
Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
He hasn't been dropped yet. It's only guesswork, Fisher has flown over and Gwilt was told by AR that there is no guarantee that he will play this week.saintjake wrote:Why is Gwilt getting dropped?

Smoke and mirrors? Dunno
Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
Hard to call with the NZ game and all, but I'm thinking if like for like, Milera and TDL should get a go ahead of him based on their form at Sandy. Perhaps Savage needs some time in the 2s to convince otherwise. I'm happy with the clubs call on this either way, but it'd be great to see how some of the other guys might go.stinger wrote:Playon wrote:Out: Schneider Gwilt

Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
Savage, Fisher, TDL and Longer (and the NZ rookie) flew over with the team vs Ess minus Schneider.

Maybe an injury concern. He looked pretty sore when he came off at one stage after being tunnelled

I know they don't pick the side - Going on the Saints.com.au article Savage is a certainty.
