Delaney and Bruce
Their opponents, The great white hope Daniher and Carlisle didn't bother the score sheet
Re: Delaney and Bruce
Maybe some fair trading.

Re: Delaney and Bruce
It makes a difference when you have key defenders playing on their key forwards instead of half back flankers. Delaney and Bruce give us a much better structure down back.

I think Pelchen & Elshaug are a good team, i hope carlscum don't pinch them before they have finished their job with us
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Gwilt and Gears were really good when released and Dempster looks much more poised and relaxed with those guys there. Love the escaped mental patient hipster hair too.

Bains is an Office boy, he wouldn't know anywhere near as much about footballers as the 2 i mentioned.BigMart wrote:Bains is the list manager....

List manager doesn't select individual players.
Manages contracts and salary cap.
Pelch and Elshaugh would be looking at individuals from a talent/playing perspective.
Bains no doubt is involved in list structure and negotiations though and I'm sure they all have a say.
Either way - we digress..
Really impressed with these two lads. Delaney gives his opponent nothing and makes good choices.
Bruce looked bloody athletic and given the amount of tall feds in the comp these days - Bruce will be crucial in the next 5 years.
Both had terrific games. Delaney definitely was one of our best.

Re: Delaney and Bruce
These 2 will both be good match ups for Jonno Brown and McGuane next week too.
It's gonna be tough to squeeze in Sam Fisher in the next couple of weeks.
We'll have some real competition for key positions down back for the first time in a long time...

Appatently Ross Lyon ruined our list as he was recruiting all the duds?

Re: Delaney and Bruce
Not trying to say he did, but we didn't have a head of football for a large part of the time and I reckon Ross probably had a lot of influence on recruiting. Maybe too much? Suits the coach to recruit for the short term and not worry about the future.dragit wrote:Appatently Ross Lyon ruined our list as he was recruiting all the duds?

Re: Delaney and Bruce
It's a very welcome change having key defenders instead of blokes playing out of position and giving away height and weight.
Especially welcome to get young bloke who should play a lot of footy for the club and not top up with delisted hacks from elsewhere in panic. Great stuff all around

The hipster mental patient just needs to improve his disposal efficiency and could be a direct Fisher replacement - tall, agile and fast.

Re: Delaney and Bruce
Loved the way they did their job and released Dempster,Gwilt etc to play their role!

Re: Delaney and Bruce
Bruce was very offensive last night. Ran his man ragged and dominated 1v1. I don't think his opponent (Daniher) took a mark inside 50. A bit annoying listening to BT calling him 'The Doo' all night though.

Re: Delaney and Bruce
Their performance last night, along with many of our other players in defensive roles, just shows how 'unfair' (IMHO) DT/SC points are in determining a player's 'worth' in a game.
I'm sure Delaney and Bruce were amongst our lowest scorers of DT/SC points but their roles had a pivotal effect on our ability to win last night.

Re: Delaney and Bruce
Is Chris Pelchin head of recruiting
Doesn't he have a much larger role than that?
