I think this should be a real concern for the AFL. You shouldn't be so arrogant to continually putting prices up without an eventual impact. You shouldn't take for granted that generation after generation will continue to follow the footy. There really appears to be a generational shift with younger people whose passion for footy is a lot less than the generations before them.

Lots and lots of kids barrack for the Saints around Chelsea/Carrum/Frankston/Seaford. My wife commented on the much larger number of St Kilda jumpers on kids at Bonbeach Auskick compared to the previous place, Aspendale (which nevertheless had quite a few Sainters too, by the way).
As Allan Jeans said thirteen years ago at a St Kilda function - we must win a premiership. That is the ONLY difference between us an Hawthorn and Richmond. We have had several eras of success which have not borne fruit, and strong sides which should have won the premiership and did not. The St Kilda side of 1939 was apparently a brilliant side, as was the team of 1991, and 2004 as well. You could throw in 1913 too, the side which won the Final of that year, but not the GRAND final - Wells Eicke, Dave McNamara and Roy Cazaly.

Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Seriously needs modernisation - the atmosphere is like the Southside 6 in the 80's. Try getting some DJ's and looking at what happens in bars these days where under 30's go. Its embarrassing.

I wonder whether this is reflective of the age mix of our overall membership. If so, the Club has a real problem with future membership growth.
Send young (hip?) players like Templeton to schools and footy camps?
Surprised with the young people at work, many having no interest in AFL and others a very superficial one.
I see Kevin Murray about once a month and trying to explain his place in the pantheon to a couple of people in their mid 20's told them he was a contemporary of Ted Whitten and Bobby Skilton and considered of similar greatness.

Neither of them knew who Whitten and Skilton were!!!!
(Maybe they should have gone on Australian Idol)
What's your hang up with age.
On the one hand you don't give young people any value of opinion.
And on the other you want more young uns involved.
