Roberton?
Roberton looked totally off the pace with no dash yesterday- eventually subbed. Is he carrying an injury or did he have an interrupted pre-season. Just doesn't look like the player he was last season.?.

Re: Roberton?
He doesn't seem to be used the same way, he was given a lot more licence to roam last year and seems to stay a lot more like a KP this year. Wright and Webster probably are cutting in on his turf so he is more or less having to reinvent himself. Hope he gets back he was one of our best last year. Gwilt has come good as well along with Dempster maybe just not enough cake to go round now.
Re: Roberton?
If Webster is fit he'd be a straight swap. Unless we want to bring in another midfielder instead - then you could consider any of Markworth, Milera, Billings, Seb.

Re: Roberton?
I think if the coach stands by his word and picks on form then Robbo and Savage have to play at Sandy.
I can't think of a more deserving debutante in recent times than MArkworth and maybe we need some bigger bodies down back so if JWeb is still iffy in the groin then Simpkin or Bruce might get a look in.
The only thing that may save Robbo and Savage is Subi is a big ground so might suit them.

Agree and it's disappointing to see how much he has dropped off. Fortunately, it's only two games in.Roberton looked totally off the pace with no dash yesterday- eventually subbed. Re: Roberton?
Roberton dropped off the pace considerably in the second half of last year, so his start to the season isn't that surprising.
He excelled last year - in the first half of the year - when he just played as a loose man. Really think he should be dropped this week.

he did an ankle and also got that heavy concussion then did a second ankle late. He was pretty good for most of the season and only late dropped off a bit but pretty easily explained. He was restricted in his preparation this year too. I wouldn't worry too much. He wasn't really loose more just given more licence to roam he was playing accountable footy and was doing a lot of the structural organising. This year I'm not exactly sure what we are doing with him. We missed all of Fisher, Gilbert (who is probably in Robertons old role), Dempster, Gwilt etc. all missing from our backline at various lengths of time. He was able to play the most effective role he was suited to. Now he's having to slot out a bit wider and clear some space and it certainly hasn't doe him any good so far. I wonder if we could turn him into a Freo style mid forward or something? Guys like him and Simpkin might need to be tried in different roles. Often in footy you end up as a defender out of necessity not because you dreamt of it. wasting talented players in unsuited roles ids poor management.

Gilbert played a lock-down role on Cameron this week.gringo wrote:Gilbert (who is probably in Robertons old role)...
