Round 1 Team
St Kilda named prized draftee Jack Billings, who was recruited with pick No.3 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, as well as elevated rookie Eli Templeton and first-year midfielder Luke Dunstan.
Shane Savage, who joined the Saints from Hawthorn, and key defender Luke Delaney, who was traded from North Melbourne, are also set to make their debut for their second clubs.

Great to see Gilbert, not really any surprises otherwise. Perhaps Billings.

Stanley will play second fiddle to Hickey by the looks of it, so I can't see him kicking too many.plugger66 wrote:Will anyone score?

Re: Round 1 Team
i would like to see Ross make some inroads into being a regular senior player this year so its a shame he has only made it as an emergancy this week... and i would rather play Lee over Maister but i guess Lee might be a bit underdone after an interupted preseason and Beau is a big body that could be handy later in the game

That doesnt matter because we have Milney, dal, jack, Lenny, BJ, chips, Schneids, Joey and one or two others to kick goals.

Agree...particularly as they have Watts in the midfield.BigMart wrote:Melbourne's team still doesn't look to daunting?!
They have as many injuries as us.

How do you fit another tall in the forward line?
Re: Round 1 Team
I would prefer to give Billings a crack at a full game - especially because we're playing Melbourne.
There isn't really any other sub candidate though. Perhaps Eli but apparently his strength is endurance so that would nullify that.
Everyone else seems to be up the pecking order, unless they do something a little out of the box and play Gilbert as the sub.

Re: Round 1 Team
We have the better talls....
I thought that they would have the edge in smalls, but after looking at their selected team I am not sure they do.

I understand your logic, but from reports Billings may not yet be fit enough for a whole game.FQF wrote:I would prefer to give Billings a crack at a full game - especially because we're playing Melbourne.

Re: Round 1 Team
I'm still absolutely and utterly lost as to why Clint Jones is still getting a game. He's made a career out of not being able to kick and yet still ....
Given we're now in full re-build mode, would Seb Ross (or Murdoch) not be a significantly better option there ? Either play him as a run-with or just let him off the leash. Clint Jones plays little if any part in our future.
Someone please rebut my argument with logic ....
