Re: Lyon re-signs for two more years
But how many more finals without a flag before Freo and all Lyon's other admirers give up on him?
Re: Lyon re-signs for two more years
Give him one thing, his self belief must be enormous...
Mine would of taken a hit by now

Re: Lyon re-signs for two more years
They won't win one. After Hawthorn and the swines peak, GC and GWS will dominate. Slim pickings over the next 5-6 years for the rest.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Not sure why you'd ask now when I was complimenting him?

They have to do it this year. Too many Freo players over 30. It's their time to go. No excuses.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

I feel you do and it taints your views.
Unable to separate emotion from the fact he has fully deserved an extension, and transformed a club in a mere 2 years. Freo of all clubs just in case people need reminding.

Lyon will be back.
Has always wanted to coach a big Melbourne side.
Will probably take over from Malthouse at Carlton.

No chance,
Carlton see running second the same as running last.
Lyon's CV is rather short on ultimate success.

You think he wanted out of Freo so they gave him a 2 year extension?

Nah, he'll wait until just after they come down from their peak. Two years ought to be about right.FQF wrote:But now that you have, I will comment and say that all of us who believed that Lyon would jump ship at Freo after their peak seem to have been wrong.

Re: Lyon re-signs for two more years
I'm tipping Lyin won't win a flag at Freo either, his class players are nearing the end and the replacements are dubious at best.
He hates the draft BUT hopefully Freo have refocused him in that area.

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window

Are you aware a verbal agreement, such as a contract acceptance, is a binding contract?FQF wrote:Are you aware that contracts only bind parties to their obligations for the time the contract is agreed to operate?mr six o'clock wrote:Exactly !joffaboy wrote:Contracts and Lyon mean SFA to each other
If in 2 or 3 years he hasn't won a premiership , he may start looking elsewhere .
and if in that time he hasn't won a flag , Freo would be unlikely to extend his contract any further .

Re: Lyon re-signs for two more years
Fully concur, and is essentially what I have been posting since RL left.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:look for me i think enough time has past since that day when ross packed up his bags to freo ... with a fair bit of reflection during this time on how Ross was with St Kilda, how St Kilda was with ross lyon , how Lyon is with Freo and how Freo is with Ross Lyon ive come to the following conclusions on some strongly held beliefs :
The other points I would add are:
* That apart from time, that we as a club had a period of too many years where our recruiters were simply woeful in the draft (I think are trades were by and large ok)
* That Westaway and Co will go down as one of the all-time pathetic Boards. Footy First swept to power, but off-field have been grossly incompetent. They have blown our chance to consolidate when were on top. The gullible blame it on the St Kilda Schoolgirl "affair".....rather than on Board who should have had all before them to Seize the Day, but who instead turned us into an off-field ravbble.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
