We are probably going to win the spoon and this season is only good for getting games into a bunch of kids and getting closer to figuring out who is worth it longer-term.

That is it.

As long as we do not finish dead last and we discover 4 or 5 players this year I will be happy.

No more spoons please.

The coach n the bench could have been David Teague, he does it look to different to Danny Sexton.

Without being at the game, it did appear on TV that our players wee just king through the motions. Regardless of whether it was due to work rate or training load we simply do not ave the playing list to finish anything other than bottom four.

On what I hae seen so far more than likely bottom, so I am just going to take joy from the kids showing something.

So thanks to Webster and Dunstan.

I remember the reaction last year when we lost to Gold Coast in round one, some supporters were really angry because they felt we were better than the Gold Coast but clearly we weren't.
How do you think Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong or Sydney would react to losing to GWS by 11 goals at any point in time. The minute we accept losing to any team by that margin we might as well give it away! The loss to Gold Coast last year was clearly a coaching error re the team preparedness and the players picked. Just because we are St Kilda we don't have to accept mediocrity Cairnsman.

Question: Do we always kick it to Rooey who leads consistantly to the flank then kicks to the pocket and even if he hits his target we are unlikely to score from the pocket.

Do our forwards not lead because they wait for Rooey who is mostly looked for.

Don't get me wrong, Roo is a star but sometimes he can be a negative

I'll give it a go. Roo is not only smart at his craft, but he works his arse off and works his opponents over with his running and his 2nd and third efforts to provide a lead. On another tack...

Roo is one of the best role models as a player...Roo has been one of the hardest workers and finest leaders of our footy club, but it is time to bite the bullet and realise that he's not going to benefit Lee or Longer or Stanley by showing them what to do. They've gotta be the next potential Roo. Even if they can be half as good that is a start. These guys need the time and the opportunity to provide their own leads

Got it in one. The players would have been told for years to kick it to the best option and that is usually Rooy because he leads more than maybe any other player in AFL history. Rooy aint the problem. Its the laziness or slowness off the klead of the other players. That is the issue I see with Lee and maister. They get bugger seperartion due to being a bit slow. Stanley is the same. His has less to do with pace and more to do with his understanding of the game.

I'm tipping you will get the answer to your question sooner rather than later because GWS could possibly be stronger than all of those teams in the not too distant future and it will have little to do with them accepting mediocrity. Love ya passion but I just can't be moved to maintain the rage while we haven't got the armoury for the battle! When we do though I'm going to be right next to you in the trenches.

True Stinger my mistake - he did provide plenty of run and got a fair bit of the ball, not sure who his opponent was though...?

Another insight... If we finish bottom 3 and get a compensatory pick at the end of Round one, pick 19, we will have 19 and 20 again. I wonder what our draft geniuses can turn them into.

Barry we have no hope of getting that one unless we didnt win a game and even then we may miss out.

This report is soooo disappointing in the sense of what WO's observation of Seb Ross was.

He looked really good in patches last season, how can he be disinterested and lazy? Ur fighting for ur career son.

Pull the finger out

Its only one persons opinion. I doubt he is disinterested and lazy, I reckon he lacks pace and may not be good enough or just had a bad day.

The implication was that he doesn't appear to be putting in 100%

I get that but like I said its one persons view. Im doubting any young player isnt putting in 100% at this time of year. matter of fact im just about certain.
