Round 1 betting St K v Mel
Early betting has St K $1.70 v Mel $2.10
If you predict doom and gloom for the Saints this year you may wish to get on Melbourne now. At least some 'experts' think we have a good show in Round 1.

Let's wait until the result of tonight's huge match. It will be season defining.
I watched a bit of the Joondalop game last night on Fox and according to Dwayne at three quarter time Freo would want to show a bit in the last. The results matter in Feb. There is no tanking or not giving it your all.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

I'd bet on a Sainters win against the Demons, it'll be one of the few rays of sunshine we get this year, if we lose this it will be a dismal year indeed!

Don't forget that the mainstream footy media will be hoping for the same. Jon Ralph would already have his headline writers working on it !!CURLY wrote:You can bet your life that the AFL want Melbourne to win.
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Round 1 betting St K v Mel
Pre-season means ultimately zero. Remember 97 pre-season and March - 100 point drubbings - finish on top of the ladder and grand final
2009 same thing - Port humiliated us in the pre-season and a month later we annhialated them in Adelaide. Top of the ladder and grand final.
And the opposite is true - Carlton win preseason flag - wooden spoon.
Richmond make pre-season grand finals - ninth!
For us it has to be about building the young team for the future while making sure that games aren't gifted, and also to make sure that enough of our veterans are still in the team each week to provide leadership, direction and experience so that we don't end up like Melbourne, or like Richmond used to be. A few of the guys who have been around for a while have a big question mark next to them and they need to show by their actions that they are worthy of senior matches.
This year could be very interesting. FWIW I think we will beat Melbourne. I base this on the recent past seven seasons, their record and form at Etihad, and the likelihood of key personnel not being available for round 1. But I think it will be very close. Under ten points, I reckon.
