For the best part of 12 months St Kilda had been sniffing around the likelihood of Weller becoming available.
“My manager spoke to a fair few clubs and there was interest without anything concrete,’’ Weller said.
“But I always had the feeling that I would get to St Kilda. After discussions with them I had a gut feeling that was where I was going to end up.’’

When St Kilda took him with pick 20 in the rookie draft, he relocated to Seaford to find a club without a coach.
When Alan Richardson was appointed, Weller was encouraged by their first meeting.
“Richo’s been great for the whole group, but for me he just got me into his office and asked about my time at the Suns, why it hadn’t worked out, and then just set it out for me — ‘If you do this, you’ll play’,’’ Weller said.
“He’s really upfront and honest with the boys. It gives you the confidence to just concentrate on your footy, to enjoy it.’’

Still around as I suspect the majority of the old guard and second wave members (including myself) are, just tend to post a lot less these days
