Coach on Twitter at lunchtime...
It's the AFL's regular Q and A.
Cam't ask too much in 140 characters, or get much of a reply, but still.
"AskTheCoach continues today with @stkildafc's Alan Richardson. Get your questions in. He'll answer approx 12:30pm pic.twitter.com/iFkTt0rGN0

Re: Coach on Twitter at lunchtime...
Quick rundown...
- Markworth will play mostly forward, may get a run on the wing.
- Newnes versitile but will mostly play mid. Impressive leader, lovely kick.
- Sees Siposs as a forward with potential to play up the ground.
- Hickey, Longer and Stanley all very much in the mix for first ruck spot.
- Jack Steven has been impressive on the track and will have the endurance to cope with tags.
- Josh Bruce is being groomed as a defender only.
- Roberton will continue to play as a running defender. Richo rates him highly.
- Standouts over the pre season have been Steven, Jones, Geary, Webster and Saunders.
- Holmes has a great attitude and is working closely with Jolly and Hamill.
- Would prefer Siposs, Lee, Riewoldt or Billings having a shot after the siren from outside 50.
- Sees Savage playing half forward / wing and complimenting Hayes, Jones, Armitage and Dunstan through the middle.
- Dempster has had his best pre season and should be able to rediscover his AA form.
- Backline will potentially be our strongest zone, support around Riewoldt up forward needs to improve.

Interesting. It sounds like we have turned things around quickly in the backline, I suppose time will tell.Beno88 wrote:Quick rundown...

I think we have got some good players down in the back line, really need one of Delaney or Bruce to stand tall so we can free up fisher , dempster and co to play there normal game. I notice to he made a note of Saunders having a good preseason, maybe he will jump out of the box this year and he name Dunstan as a starting midfielder pretty much. I do like the way richo speaks, he doesn't be around the bush like watters use to from wat iv heard so far

Re: Coach on Twitter at lunchtime...
Thanks for the post Beno.
Geez, we've been screaming out for someone to help Roo out for years. That's been a huge problem for mine.
It enabled teams like Geelong to double and triple team him which meant we weren't getting the best from him.
It's good to hear him say our defence will be potentially the strongest zone. A successful formula is based on a great defence imo.

IMO every great team in most sports is built around a defensive structure. That's how Seattle beat the Broncos this week in the NFL. Defensive play may not be that great to watch but its a winning formula.Beno88 wrote:Quick rundown...
