Re: Jumper
Are we talking about the stick figure Saint jumper?
Has Leslie Charteris' copyright on that character expired? Last time we used that we got into copyright problems and had to change.

I didn't know that GO. An interesting story if it is. What time frame was that? Is it possible that the new generation of staff are unaware of the fact and might be in breach again?GrumpyOne wrote:Are we talking about the stick figure Saint jumper?

Re: Jumper
By memory, back in the 70's and 80's we used the stick figure on a lot of our marketing, especially "The Saint" magazine. I'm not sure what year it was we had to remove it, but GO is right it was because of a copyright issue.
Here's examples I found;

Re: Jumper
I like that song on the The Saint magazine. At least it's a bit different to just the one verse song and it would be as long as the song they play now.
I like looking at old stuff like that magazine, the Barry Breen Roast, The Jeff Sarau stats, etc.

Re: Jumper
Remember it being on the awning outside the milk bar on the Nepean Hwy near the ground. Also as signage outside the video shop. There was also a local scrap metal place which had the stick figures attached to the front of all of their trucks.
My uncle also had a standing ashtray in that design too!
Big fan of the old black and white show with Roger Moore. Shame about Ian Ogilvy...

Re: Jumper
Yep hope they have the right to use the stick figure, had to stop using it in the 80s because of the saint/simon temple had rights on it.
Any way I thought we had progressed.

All the older people I've spoken with (or read on here) love it because it takes them back to the old days. Why would we want to go back there? We made 4 finals over those 20 years, one grand final where we were a laughing stock. 7 wooden spoons in 20 years. Exactly what memories does it bring back?

Most of us still enjoyed going to the football, even when we weren't expecting to win, it was still good fun and also we got to witness some of the greatest players in the history of the comp play in our jumper.
Through thick and thin dools… if it were only about winning flags the club would no longer exist.
This pre-season jumper is a little bit of fun, it's the NAB challenge round robin after all.
