Of course. We're about to take Dal's cousin at three. As if Pelchen can pass up a 190+ cm left-footer who can run all day. If Marsh is still there at 18, Pelchen will probably faint.

Haha poor old Pelch. Just saw Dumont grew up in Cranny until age 8, its a long bow, but would continue our trend of getting 'local' kids to Seaford!

NO! Cousin, not brother.

Totally different player types too. Cripps is a big bodied midfielder that is really good at power work inside. Has good hands but needs to build endurance at AFL level.

He was shown kicking a footy into a drum from about 25 metres out I the WA NEWS today. East Fremantle lad originally from the country (I think). Carlton were very interested at one stage and paid him a home visit but now apparently a more interested in forwards.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

3. Billings
18. Dunstan
19. Jones

I would be over the moon if we ended up with these 3 guys. Combine that with a successful trade period and we have really set ourself up for a quicker rebuild than most would expect.

With Murdoch on the list from last year also... personally its too much of a risk imo as Dun-Dum may not be available. Please please please pick mids though, Dun-Dum, Acres, Jones, all look like beasts in the future!

Go home seems like a rubbish excuse to me. Get whoever you want and trust your club to be good enough to keep them.
Not sure it can be rubbish. Ask the Brisbane Lions right now how the 'go home' factor is working for them? Can we trust a club that's gone through what we have in the past 24 months? Carlton were EXTREMELY lucky to have kept Gibbs remember. Aish is one of the three biggest name from South Australia - Robran, Ebert, Aish. I notice Ebert came back to the flock two years ago.

I love our footy club with a passion but quite frankly - I don't trust them to hold interstate talent right now - especially one with massive ties to his home state.

Dunstan with Pick 19 will be a steal. If this happens, we'll look back in years to come and celebrate how we got him at the end of the first round. Dunstan is our Lenny Hayes of the next 15 years. Future captain.

My fear is we will stuff pick 3! I am confident 18 and 19 will land us very good players I just worry (purely from being a sainter all my life!) that pick 3 won't go our way. There is so much conjecture and pressure as to who that 3rd best player is (noting they could quite easily be the best!) do we get a Judd or a fiora..?!

Munga wrote:Are Aish, Dumont and Dunstan all from Norwood? That's some effort.

Emma Q. has Dumont & Aish from Norwood.
Just a comparison of these 2 would be interesting enough in itself. You would expect one of these 2 to be v. good.
What's the likelihood of Dumont trumping Aish?

E.Q. also thinks Carl, Geel, Syd could pick Dumont before us @ #18. 'Unrelenting determination' sounds very sydney - Capt. Kirk-like perhaps.
Dumont sounding big potential but glad l don't have to make this call !

Saintmatt wrote:My great fear is that Aish will have a big 'go home' discussion all around him if he lands outside of SA. To be honest - I'm not sure our club is strong enough right now to hold Aish.
The go-home factor doesn't apply to South Australians like it did in the 1970's and 1980's.

http://www.news.com.au/news/adelaide-no ... 1117696455
Matt Rendell, ex-Adelaide recruiting officer:
"Now, we can't even get the South Australians out of Victoria back here – they don't want to come back. They want to stay in Victoria because they love it there."

The biggest go-home factor, by some way, is WA.

NT also has a strong draw - undoubtedly some cultural challenges add a layer to that 'pull'.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

During trade period (or just after) he said Billings however things could've changed since then.

Twomey has us getting Billings,
C R I P P S !!

and Hartung http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-11-19/p ... -shapes-up[/quote]
Everything I read says we are cooling of Hartung, only the few in charge would really know though I guess.

Pat Cripps WA (vice capt) regarded as a genuine strong extractor.
Watched his interview and sounds like he has come a long way in a short time - not just the growth spurt which has shot him upto 190cm.
Grew up on 9000 acres out woop woop (WA).

Sounds very level headed and mature. Boarding school teenage years and mum a teacher so going home prob. not an issue for him (as he says).

Love to know how he is rated in current comparisons with his state-mate . D.Sheed and T.Dumont (SA) as
clearance specialists.
any views ?
