Re: Watters on SEN this morning
Did he talk about his warnings from HR and the max exodus?
Or was it more about the disarray strategy.
Notice it is becoming so popular, James Magner stated in the Hun this morning that the Dees have adopted the strategy as their own.
its catching on.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

He directly responded to the innuendo and apeculation about him and the club!
Don't have to time to do a full summary just yet - but let's just say I reckon our membership was just boosted by about 5k!
Very impressive and convincing.

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
He basically said that
He and Pelchen were on the same page with recruiting strategies
He was happy with his standing on his job and that his contract will come up for discussion during the season
Although some of the senior players struggled with not playing finals they embraced the young players and put in particular reference to Roo and Montagna
It was difficult to let Dal and Ben go. And that he still talks to Ben and they will remin friends
Was happy that the president has told him they see him as a long term coach
He basically said all the rumors were absolute crap ... Seemed genuine to me

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
I heard the last half. Not sure if there is an audio up. If there is it is worth listening. From what I heard … If he is a Dead Man Walking, then he's doing an excellent job of:
1. Promoting the Club;
2. Supporting (and not bagging) the Club;
3. Reassuring the Members that we are Not A Rabble.
He was asked point blank about his job and the rumours. When asked if any of the supposed conversations about his imminent demise were true, he said "not one". He said he's just getting on with the job of shaping the list and getting the club back to where the supporters want it to be, and if his contract comes up in January, July or at the end of next season, so be it. When asked about the senior players, he conceded there had been some issues for them in coming to terms with the fact that they were no longer at the top, but named Roo, Joey and Lenny all as examples of players who had also been fantastic with the young kids.
Maher and Watson sounded surprised at the end that had been so forthcoming. They sounded quite candid when they said he had answered all of the "issues" and "rumours".

He also declared the rumours about him and Pelchen being diametrically opposed on list management as "laughable".
He said they were absolutely on the exact same page in regards to the list and the direction of it.

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
But it can't be true Brian Speaking said he basically has the interpersonal skills of a Nazi war officer and and the player management skills of a block of concrete or some crap like that. It will really s*** off the real power brokers of the club like Finey when he goes about dousing the rumours he has tirelessly pedalled.
For once the club should put Finey first and sack Watters. It's been a terrible week for him with all that legal crap he's had to deal with while still doing that show thing on the radio.
What about Caro she's going to look as credible as she did on the whole school girl scandal when she printed her retraction. Once again we are damaging the people that matter and looking after our selves with an eye on positivity and memberships. Disgraceful.

Yes, surprising isn't it. Unfortunately, given the dent to the Rabble Theory, SEN aren't breaking any land speed records to put it up online.tony74 wrote:Well blow me down with a feather.
Not sure if the Club can get access to it, but it would be worth putting up on the website!

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
Clearly Watters is a liar and the club is in disarray.
I mean why believe Watters when you can read myriad "opinions" about the club on SS?
I mean lets go through the lies by this club
1) Reported - Senior players in Mass Exodus - Club response - no exodus
2) Club in Disarray - Club Response - gets 4 players Savage, Delaney, Longer, and Bruce who chose Saints as preferred destination. Delisted FA mav Weller does the same.
3) Roo off to Collingwood - club response, total BS Roo will never be traded
4) Joey off to Bombers - club response, total BS, Joey never on the table to be traded
5) Watters to be sacked - club response - never going to be sacked.
I mean how long are we going to be decieved by this club?

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
Great - so the disarray strategy is completely off the table then ??!!
That's f****** wonderful. I got behind that strategy 100%, and I have been spruiking it loudly to both my friends since I heard about it.
Well, that's not entirely true, they're not really friends, more like acquaintances, but I am working on it and I do have high high hopes........

He has copped far too much crap, unfortunately sometimes saints people have contributed at times.
Give him 12 months, then we can have an educated opinion on him.
Why anyone wants him to fail? I have no clue...

Pretty dissapointed in the club. Got us all to buy in to the disarray strategy, then blithely reject it for competence and stability
I predict the club may fold by 2117.

i think they have got the Collingwood and St Kilda banners wrong.
Collingwood lost 2 prime stars who the club happily dumped even paying the contract of Shaw for GWS. They have a coach that doesn't get on with any of their players, They have lost Butterpants their cheating specialist, the have got in Davoren who according to people on here is only good for taping the players nails on game day, a whole lot of favourite sons have been forced retired etc. etc. May be they just stuffed up the teams they weren't wrong.

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
Well he isn't going to come out and confirm the issues.
Surely that type of response is to be expected. Doesn't make anything reported not true.
I have no idea what's going on - But I probably take as much out of that as I would with what's been reported.

Re: Watters on SEN this morning
Of course he's going to point-blank deny there's any issues. If you expect him to admit to any conflict, you're not really grasping where modern sport is at in regards to conflict and crisis management.
That aside, I understand the issues are resolvable.
It's basically an issue of who is in charge over what. The club has poor communication structures; both men felt they had the final say on certain issues.
We've charged Pelchen with an awful lot of responsibility, more than normal for AFL clubs. He is planning for the future and doesn't have the results-based pressure Watters does, which means there's been some tension and confusion.
But they'll work it out - they have to. Both are good operators. Watters is a much better coach than people think and Pelchen's list-building record speaks for itself.
I note that the young players on the list have completely bought into Watters' vision. Good signs for the future in that regard.
