Mark Thompson to coach saints in 2015?
Here's an idea, perhaps those in charge are keeping half an eye on how Bomber goes next year and if he is keen to continue coaching after Hird returns, would he come to the Saints in 2015?

Gets the best drugs for his teams though.

I bloody hope not, I despise that knobhead.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

If some reason SW was not renewed and Bomber wanted to coach he would be a fantastic coach. who cares about the personal stuff. Hopefully SW is re signed because it means he has met the criteria.

Every player on the list would want to keep a close eye on their girlfriends/wives if it does eventuate...

If SW isn't renewed it will be very interesting.
Club should go hard for Alistair Clarkson.

Well I couldn't care less if he was an absolute see you next tuesday, if he got the team to a flag, I would love it.
Dont need to love the coach, I didn't think much of GT, or Rossy, but stiff ched. I dont want to be their mates.

I find it amazing that as we prepare for an crucial season in our rebuild; when the recruiting staff have made some exciting moves during the trade period, with the prospect of new and exciting young talent being brought to the club in the draft. There are folk already buying into our Coach being dismissed, not only that but pondering on his replacement. For mine, I don't think Thompson would come within a country mile of our club. And with all the gossip and innuendo surrounding his position , I'm amazed that SW WANTS to remain as our coach!

I reckon he wants to stay as our coach because he probably gets 400k and also it maybe the only time he is head coach of an AFL club. If he cant handle this amout of criticism then he shouldnt or wouldnt be coaching.

I have said on several occasions that it's well past time for the Chairman/Board to step in and sort this mess out. Get it over and done - bang a few heads and cut those that are not doing the team thing. If that means a senior person, so be it!!
We are almost into a new pre-season!!

Just let Watters see out his contract, review it then, but regardless I would hope the club sound out Clarkson during the year.

Thompson wouldn't take another job IMO
I don't reckon he's that good anyway... BigMart could have coached the cats to a flag in 07...

Would prefer Ross Lyon back.
I crossed paths with Thompson once, he seemed like such a joyless individual. Not that has anything to do with coaching ability.
But geez, is he passionate about anything? Has he ever instigated a joke before in his life? I always admired and fed off passionate coaches, myself.
Hard to judge him as a coach considering Geelong's list over the last decade.

Re: Mark Thompson to coach saints in 2015?
I don't think Bomber is interested in being a full-time coach anymore. I'd much rather stay away from situations like Melbourne where they've hired a coach who clearly doesn't want to be there, but can't say no to millions of dollars.
If, for whatever reason, Scott Watters can't the coach in 2015, my first choice would be Leigh Tudor. He's coached as an assistant in GFs at three stops now, including here. I would assume though, if Scott isn't extended, we'll do what clubs always do and grab an assistant off one of the Grand Finalists.

Agreed. Only 2 flags in 10 years compared to one in 140 years. Why do people care what sort of person a coach is. Does anyone on here even know one of our coaches? I hope the club isnt as silly as some of the stuff on here.
