Re: Interesting players
Disagree Big Mart
You are being one eyed. Yes that's Roos main weapon but its not the same for all key fwds.
Most dont cover anywhere near as much as distance as Roo. Roo is quite unique
Obviously they have to be fitter than they used to be yes.
You cant be a goal square BT/Alistair Lynch/Scotty Cummings anymore.
But like most things in life its a trade off.
If they dont have the strength to win a contest it doesnt matter how much they run . Otherwise we should recruit Craig Mottram.
The key fitness for a key fwd is their repeat bursts and explosive efforts.
Its different to 'power running' that Roo specialises in.
So sorry you are wrong.

Re: Interesting players
Tom Lee is going to be a very good player for us, possibly even elite. He has a stack of ability and is an excellent kick of the football.
Are we waiting for a saviour?
I'm so sick of waiting!
I've been waiting my whole life!
This is a new day!

Cloke, Brown and Tomahawk all can lead to space but their main weapon is not their running they are using body strength to win contests one on one. Cameron has a balance between the two and uses timing to know where and when to lead but can still wrestle the smaller backs when he needs to.
JPod uses strength to lock his player down then pushes off them as the ball is coming in. Jack Riewoldt has burst speed and a high leap.
there are all types of tall forwards still and if you watch the tapes of Lee his thing at WAFL level was timing and clean hands.
He can do the speccies but his best feature was picking the ball up cleanly off the ground and sneaking a goal Milney like. He was slippery and great at weaving through heavy traffic. the thing that will make him a successful player is that he isn't one dimensional, the good players are adaptable and have different elements to their game. He will probably end up a bit like Jack Riewoldt if I had to guess, has the same attributes in good mobility and clean skills.

So you honestly think he could win a couple of coleman's? We really do overate our players. He could be a good solid player but is far to slow to ever be a real star which Jack can certainly be.
Re: Interesting players
How much ground do you think Travis Cloke covers? Do you reckon he camps i50
Con,
This is not the 80s where a forward stands in the goal square, and has a rest whist the all is in the backline....
They MUSTbe the next contest regardless of where the footy is? Obviously you've noticed when at games.... If the all is at one end, the other half of the ground is empty.... Then 20 seconds later the opposite is the case.... And so on
A rule for all forward in footy now is continual movement.,,,. Only time a forward can not run is a centre bounce...
4/5/6 repeat leads.... Empty out leads.... Figure 8 or hook leads.... It unbelievable....
This is all with the footy
The toughest job is without it
It's why Siposs, Spencer White are not AFL ready

so you don't rate him fine. So you saw after one year Lenny would be a super star of the comp? After Jack Steven played his first season you pencilled him in for the 2013 B&F? Oh sorry I didn't realise you could see that he was just going to be an ordinary player. I remember you rubbished me when I said Roberton looked good after the NAB last year. You obviously could see he was s*** early. Good call.
We should delist Lee now if he won't make anything but a GOP. We don't need those. You should call your mates at the club and get him cut from the list before we spend another dollar developing a spud.

It has often been said that Tom Lee has an immature body for his age, whatever that means. If it means that he is a "Late Bloomer" I hope we reap the benefits !!Little Dozer wrote:Tom Lee is going to be a very good player for us, possibly even elite. No who said that? That would be a very stupid thing to say so i doubt anyone would say it.
Re: Interesting players
Tom Lee needs to be a regular player before he becomes considered anything....
A potential elite AFL footballer would have better numbers up until the age of 21 than he did.... He were above serviceable
Medhurst, Gartlett, Krakour, Maister, Heatly are some examples of players who have played in the WAFL prior to drafting.... Check out their numbers...
He may become solid.... He may not play 50
Calls of Elite are silly

Re: Interesting players
I don't understand this thread... Riewoldt & Franklin have weaknesses too, doesn't stop them from being elite players of the competition.
And are we really debating whether or not a guy who has played 9 AFL games is elite? Wow.

Re: Interesting players
Im confused about this thread too.
As usual plugger enters with a negative snide remark based on nothing that had been written before but plucked from his embittered imagination.
All i said was the way Lee plays he will benefit from gaining extra strength and he doesnt have to be a Roo clone to be good. This was evidenced from his return from his achilles injury in the latter part of the season.
No idea where Coleman came from.
Plugger is super quick to write off players.
Wrote off Roberton as hopless and has already written off Spencer based on the inside knowledge of a kid who knew a kid he went to Kindie with who didnt rate him in the sand pit.

Re: Interesting players
The Heat
63 games and 171 goals for the Saints.
Good player.
If Lee averages 3 goals a game and plays 100 games Ill be very happy.

Have a look at how the Heat performed at Subiaco before drafting..... A touch better than young Lee....
Lee will be a GOP

I didn't say he'd win two colemans either ....overboard? You are saying you know he can't be anything but a GOP after 15 games or so. Categorically writing off players as average or carp before they have had time is something you can Con G and Big Mart for yet you do it yourself so the idea that you don't bring it up is just ridiculous.

I never once mentioned a GOP. That was you and you said so stop takling rubbish. I said he could become a solid player but will never be a reiwoldt. Big friggin deal. most forwards wont be. Grow up and read what is written and not what you think is written. made up rubbish by a person with a huge imagination. Thanks for saying sorry you were wrong but compared to Jimmy Wagga you are telling the truth 100%. he is just lying or genuinely has no idea. Wjat is on about with saying 2 colemans to become elite. can anyone explain that at all. Im really confused.
