We only have 3 picks and we surely wont use pick 19 on Garlett. I think if we planned to take him we would have kept a pick in the 30's or 40's.

Great trading by the Saints. Really surprised about #48 for Bruce as well. Net result is we still got the 2 of them for #25 and #41 as planned. Brisbane scored a little better and GWS lost out...possibly for the first time....they've usually got the early trades they wanted...we stuck to our guns and they grabbed #48 after realising they were on a hiding to nothing as we'd get him in the PSD...Well done Saints! Welcome aboard Brucey.

No to Garlett. Hope we get 3 kids who can all play.

Great to have Bruce on board now and not have to wait on psd.
Pelican Bains seem to have designed their strategies very well. Really appreciate all the hard work towards getting us on the track again. The 4 inclusions (pre-draft) have given our club a real chance in terms of what we can manage with the team's development. So far so good.

The 2nd. part of the puzzle will reveal just how good the hard work has been with those 3 picks in the top 20.
As Ameet pointed out on radio (1/2 hr. ago) it has been 13 years since St.Kilda has had picks this high up in the draft.

Make every post a winner recruiters !!

- I did hear Ameet state that the club will be picking the best player available at each of those Rd. 1 picks.

GOOD LUCK SAINTS!

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

Most pathetic attempts at tackles I have seen at AFL level.

As for the man himself - outmarked McPharlin which is no mean feat.

I assume we are paying decent coin to all our 4 recruits.
Bruce will be on 250 k, if what I read was correct

That's what the Eagles said about Winmar in late 86 mate.

Wasnt it his second year at GWS so if that is the case then he is on a set figure of around 60k plus money for games. All first and second year contracts are the same depending on where you go in the draft. You cannot pay players anymore.

Always a good strategy with early picks.

But now that our trades have fixed our major structural weaknesses we are een more free to do so.

However I dearly hope that at least 2 of the three are mids...as our No 1 need now is more genuine cream in our midfield.
