It is a sad day indeed for the Stkfc. We have lost not only a great player, but a wonderful person who has provided us with much joy over the last 12 years. I'm not sure how to feel today. Obviously disappointed that Nick has chosen to join the Kangaroos, but can also understand his desire to do so, and in a strange kind of way, have no ill feeling towards him. I wish him the best, and may he find the success he craves. God knows how gave everything for the Saints.
Today I feel empty because it has finally sunk in that, it is the end of an era at the STKFC. And what an era it was. God we came close, and it still hurts to think about 2009 & 2010. The empty feeling is due to the realisation that some of the greatest saints players I have seen in my lifetime ( I am 46 yo), have left the club (Kosi, Milne, BJ, Dal amongst others) or are in the final stages of their careers. It took us almost 10 years to reach a grand final, building from the 2000 draft, and I'm not sure I have the patience to live through another re-build. I hope the turn around is a lot quicker, but right here, right now, things look pretty bleak.......but there is always tomorrow to build some hope.
Sad thing is that initially I don't think he had any intention of going anywhere.........when we tested the market with him, I think that's when he started to come to the realisation that he could possibly win a flag after all and decided to go. Saints hierarchy probably would have to concede that they lost this battle. Were hoping for a much better return than what we eventually got.....you win some, you lose some!

ironically, Dal was about the only one we had who could kick it lace out...
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
I can understand that some of the older guys may be wanting to move on....I mean we made it to the top of Everest but just couldn't plant that f#$$$ flag! Now that we're miles away from seriously challenging, it must be hard for them to get themselves up especially knowing that their time may have passed....they more than likely won't get that premiership medallion around their necks. My admiration just grows even more for the guys that are sticking around (i.e. Lenny, Joey, Chips, Roo etc......) Thick and then remember??????? What happened to mateship, loyalty FFS!!!!!

At pick 25 or 26 it would be about 50/50 they will play 20 games.
So the odds of winning in this not great.
BS. Where did you get that from?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
What happened to us playing hard ball to get a top 15 pick for Dal Santo, or he stays? I remember reading that in the Herald Sun a few months ago.
Favourite memory of a young Dal - playing out at Princess Park v. Carlton in his 2nd year (??) snapping a goal over his shoulder. I remember thinking, this kid looks alright!
who is going to end up with less wins than us....melbourne....with roos in charge...hardly......gws...surely with all their draft picks...plus 1, 2 20 and 22 this year plus munford and a cpouple of other gop....nope..imho....
we have lost milne, big boy, kossi, blake, dal, and ledger from the side that thrashed freo ...who admittedly was playing half their reserve side....can't really see us winning a game.....but i suppose we will jg one or two....
read above
i thought your post was about us not winning the wooden spoon next year...too me it is more than a distinct possibility....just being honest is all......
can we win a flag atm ?...............(put answer here)
By the time we are capable would Dal still be with us or be any good?.....(put answer here )
Would it be a good idea to start from scratch and get the best possible low pick young up and comers ? .... (put answer here)
Should we just keep whingeing and moaning or bite the bullet...bide our time and hit the bigtime again with a complete outfit able to actually grab the flag......... ( don't answer that)
4. I know you don't ask for an answer Firey................. and I hate whingeing and moaning.............. But gee Firey allow me a little whinge though...... I will so miss Dal, it hurts to see hime go
