Yes because if we are going to trade in players we need them to actually be you know...proficient.

Delaney isn't

Take the deal, Saints--it isn't a bad offer. I don't think Delaney is as bad as people make out, and having pick 26 could help us to land another player or pick during the trade period. Dal Santo is no spring chicken--I would take the deal.

Also, Delaney looks like no push over:

So it COULD be Dal for Bruce and Delaney, not sure I like it?
Whilst I rate Delaney, i think we could get him via PSD or a 4th rounder...
Bruce on the other hand is tricky, potentially very valuable....

I don't want to lose Dal.....

Is there anybody else on our list that could take on gorillas?

If we take the deal and assuming we don't throw 21 at Bruce then Delaney and Bruce as well as picks 3,21,26 is not a bad outcome. Big if on the Bruce deal but I am confident we won't give 21 away for Bruce alone

I only think we should do the deal IF Dal wants to leave.
Especially now it has come out he can leave as a free agent & we would get pick 22 at best!

I completely agree. Also, Delaney is only 24, so he has plenty of up side. Check out footage from his debut game--it may change people's minds:

Depends on how hard ball you want to play with north. Pick 22 will see us having the choice of 4 more top 30 draft picks to pick from with the chance that someone with quality has slid.

If we land Bruce first we are in a better position of having secured 1 key defender. I hope we at least make north work harder to get the deal done. They may be able to offer something else to sweeten the deal.

We haven't heard anything yet to suggest the other clubs interested are going to offer anything substantial - it is a risk though. North have obviously had no firm offers or they'd be trying to push us.

I think from memory we were interested in a few other KDPs.

Do your research mate.. Delaney is someone we really need and he can play good kick and built like a brick. Full back for the next 8 yrs yes please.. Dal as good he has been is 30 and playing roulette with a 30 yr old could spell disaster. I say take the deal. It's win win

I'd hope that if any deal goes through, it will be the end of trade week PJ.

Don't want dal to go, but we shouldn't cave early.

Knowing Pelchen its probably 21 for Bruce + 38.
I reckon you might just be right, Con. Though their pick is officially 35 at the moment. If Bruce is as good as a lot of people seem to think then he's definitely worth a second round pick.

So that would leave us with 3, 35, 37, 55 and Bruce. If we then lose Dal for Delaney and 26 (which I tend to think is a mistake, may as well use FA) then we'd have:

3, 26, 35, 37, 55; with Bruce and Delaney; without Dal Santo

So effectively that would be Dal Santo and 21 for Bruce, Delaney, 26 and 35. If we rate the two big guys then that seems a reasonable deal overall. Not amazing, but OK. Enables us to lock some things in early in the trade period so we don't run the risk of getting shafted like last year.

Then we'd have four spots on the list so would aim to use the four picks inside 40. Though I think I'd rather swap TDL for whoever we would pick at 55, all else being equal.

Could we swap TDL for a 5kg bag of spuds?
All of them would be better than TDL!

"Cave"? We get what we want and roughly what he's worth, how is that "caving"?

I'm not sure about the deal on offer. But then again I'm in the "keep Dal" camp.

However I think some people are confusing Delaney the player with the cost of obtaining him. Like most I also don't want to give too much away and would prefer to get him in the PSD. However he is no dud and in fact could be a good acquisition.

Unfortunately a lot of our views about him are coloured by the fact he started as a Rookie; he's basically a VFL backup player for the Roos and his potential arrival at the Saints is linked with the possible departure of of a much loved champion of the club.

In those circumstances players such as Delaney will always struggle to find love.

Think he could be okay. Just don't want to pay "overs" for him.

My local butcher is a huge one eyed norf member and told me that he would be happy for Delaney to be off their list and also his brother as well. Not many norf supporters want Delaney to stay :?

Apparently we are trying to get Mullet from North too. Thank God for that - I thought we where just after guys I'd never heard of before, not household names like Mullet.

We gotta get Bugg first. Whack him on a hook ... then get Mullet.

2 points . We would definitely get better than 26 if Dal taken as un-contracted. End of first round at worse, which would be pick 18 at this stage. I doubt if we would get pick 4, but maybe middle of first round, pick 10.
And is'nt Fisher being offered to GWS for their player

... and then get Delaney for free in the PSD. Seems to make more sense to me and puts the correct worth on Delaney.
