Banger in line for a promotion

-Former St Kilda captain and current assistant Robert Harvey has been discussed as a potential senior assistant for Buckley, which would elevate him from line coach.
Good on him!
He was understandably gutted at not even getting an interview when Ross walked... but I'm glad the club didn't follow the Primus, Hird, Voss, Buckley etc. Favourite Son path.
Best move for all concerned I think- hasn't exactly been a raging success elsewhere.
He'll be back coaching us one day- after learning the ropes.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.
I know how Dal feels.

He didn't make it to the last wave of interviews. I think there were 3 or so who did.duckduckduckgoose wrote:http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/c ... 6731736125

Could be back coaching us within 12 months if the scuttlebutt is true. SW seems to be under immense pressure.

That makes no sense if it is true. We're s*** at the moment because we were always going to have a down period after a lot of good years. Not sure how anyone could blame Watters for it.SENsaintsational wrote:Could be back coaching us within 12 months if the scuttlebutt is true. SW seems to be under immense pressure.
We'll win less than five games next years because that's the right way to develop our kids. Anyone who's not ready for that should move to Uzbekistan now.
Re: Banger in line for a promotion
Never said it was true or even right. Fact is that the media pressure on SW next year will be heightened. It's already started. I was being flippant about suggesting RH will replace him, but stranger things have happened.

Sorry just means the " filth " will lose more games bring it on
Good bloke RH Great Player RH................. Not a senior Coach for mine
Personally would be going for someone else if not Watters prefer him to what Clarkson has done complete the job
Given what " Ken Hinkley" has done at Port would prefer " Leigh Tudor" myself

How could you possibly tell that? Have you worked with him? Or even seen him work as a senior coach?lloyd21 wrote:Good bloke RH Great Player RH................. Not a senior Coach for mine
Re: Banger in line for a promotion
Yeah. So how could anyone have a serious opinion on whether he'd be good or bad in that role?lloyd21 wrote:P.s He has never been Senior Coach

Re: Banger in line for a promotion
There is only one coach that retired of his own accord that springs to mind for me. That's Matthews.
Most I can think of are sacked and some unceremoniously.
I do not want this out come for Robert Harvey.
Our history is scant enough without alienating a favourite son.
Agree Lloyd21 ... Leigh Tudor would be a great coach one day. Hopefully we are in the market when it happens.

just goes to show that all the posters on here denigrating banger's coaching ability are out of wack with buckley's think...and he is far far closer to observe first hand, than anyone on here
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Re: Banger in line for a promotion
Just announced as senior assistant at Collingwood, with Scott Burns moving across as the midfield coach.
It's definitely a noteworthy promotion for Harvs.

Re: Banger in line for a promotion
He's been at the filth for a few years now.
When clubs do their post-season reviews, occasionally an assistant coach (or two) is asked to leave, or their contract is not renewed. Fresh ideas etc.
The fact that Banger was promoted implies that he has satisfied some KPI's which every business has. Remember they finished lower than they hoped, and they bang on about changing culture.
Well, Banger getting promoted, and Burns coming in UNDER him (Burns was at WCE for a few years so is not a newbie) tells me that Banger is highly regarded at Filthville.
He must have lots going for him, well done Banger, legend.

Nathan Basset still available. Just coached norwood in sanfl to back to back premierships and 3rd grand final in his 4 year coaching stint. 73% win ratio. Was a defender himself and has the created the best defence in the Sanfl and a well drilled team.
