of our season?..
i think so. Trading and drafting will be the key interest of mine each year.
what about you?

Still think through the season will be exciting, at least I won't have too high expectations of wins next year, like I did this year!. I remember watching TFS at the start of the year and Sam had us down near the bottom, I was outraged...but then reality set in, he was right (sort of) he had us higher then where we finished. I am looking foward to seeing the young guys get more games and experience into them. Who is the going to be the stand out / revelation next year!!! Hopefully we can string a few more wins together and see some consistent footy (and a better game plan). Anyway we can't go any lower than we can this year (can we???? hopefully not!!).
I am also hoping to see a better draw where we play some Saturday arvo games...not twilight....(i know i am dreaming!!). Its going to be another tough year but we are the Saints its not like we haven't been through a tough season before!

I agree saintkellerm. I can remember almost driving off the road when I heard the pre-season forecasts by the "experts" and Robert Walls had us 16th! I was outraged (like your good self) but history has proved who was right!

Please let's not ever, ever have another trade and draft period like that under RLyon in 2009

Thank god the Saints recruited someone who has the runs on the board.

Pretty much every expert had us bottom 6.
Only one eyed Saints fans and 'the ox' had us above top 6.
I think next year we will probably be similar again - my concern is GWS and Melbourne surely due some improvement..
2015-16 though we need to get a wriggle on. By then hopefully the Pies and Blues are back below us. I also think the Eagles might struggle.

I hope Pelchen doesnt outsmart himself with his 'moneyball' approach.Scollop wrote:Please let's not ever, ever have another trade and draft period like that under RLyon in 2009

His attitude is to pick up players that other clubs 'under-rate'. The flipside and danger in that approach is that by definition he may 'over-rate' duds.
When in doubt - let Elshaugh use the draft. Hes come up with some rippers so far with Newnes, Webster and Nate Wright.

Proves how poorly we are going if this part of the year is exciting for some. I actually love watching us play whether we win or lose. Now that is exciting.

I am right with you on the Twilight games. I just can't get to the Sunday ones with my work and when scheduled on the other days they are nothing short of a pest to get to.

Re: for the next 3-4 years is oct/nov the most exciting part
09 was a shocker of a year compared with Geelong who took menzel, Vardy and Christiansen. We really stuffed that one up. We really over balanced that one. Ross was in a get players in for now mode. As much as has been made about our recruiting I think the lack opportunity and development cost us just as much.
Re: for the next 3-4 years is oct/nov the most exciting part
To me watching Curren run out and have 20 touches in his first game is way more exciting than reading out a heap of young draft picks , all of which have nice little descriptions that suggest they will be gods gift to footy, then waiting 6 months for a low key debut.

Watching the debutants play is exciting. Amazing to think Markworth has become the forgotten man...
Club seemed to have pencilled him in for matches this year before the knee injury.
