You've lost me spinner?
Just pointing out Ross flew in to a pretty decent list, for a second time.

You too, you think he was a chance to stay?BigMart wrote:Nettlefold had a year to get Ross's extension done, if you snooze you lose.
How you could let a grandfinal coach walk out uncontracted, with a ridiculous clause in his contract is just that... Ridiculous!
It looks like the most inept decision made in the history of the club (followed by Seaford) right ATM?
As soon as the story of his financial duress came out, don't reckon he was a chance to stay.
Maybe I'm wrong..

Lyin is a mercenary arse wipe. GO HAWKS.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

I hope Freo. Couldn't care less either way about RL, although I respect him as a coach - but I reckon it would be funny seeing the hawks lose another one. Their supporters seem to think they have some divine right to win flags and are insufferable. Also will be good to see a team win their first flag.

I dont like what he did to the Saints, but he sure can coach, especially defensive tactics. It looks like Freo for the flag unfortunately.

Big question is...when did he do the deal?SainterK wrote:You too, you think he was a chance to stay?BigMart wrote:Nettlefold had a year to get Ross's extension done, if you snooze you lose.

Gave him a new contact offer in May 2011 for 4 years - Yes, he'd have signed

He wanted stk to commit to a deal. The fact he was annoyed there wasn't a good deal, is a part of him leaving. He felt he'd earned a bigger and longer contract.

I think he was smarter than you, i think he knew his list strategy had caught up with him and the fact that the Pelican now had total control meant that he was better off bailing, which he did..BigMart wrote:He wanted stk to commit to a deal. So you bought the Lyon spin?
That's clearly wrong as both parties decided to put talks off until the end of that year.

He wanted the untenable vibe to be well known.
It was his way of telling the market, come at me.
Like satcho said, I reckon purple suitcases of cash were around quite awhile.
Ultimately he said he was agreeing to terms, and when the press arrived, he was on a plane.
Re: To every one that craps on about Lyon...
Disagree.... Discussion with his manager (Harvey's mgr) would have been almost by accident IMO. Discussing Harvey, Lyons contract status and happiness would initially have just been mentioned as an inquiry.... When it was revealed about discontent, the negotiation would have been swift. Board meeting, decision to make offer, make offer all in 48 or less hrs IMO
Re: To every one that craps on about Lyon...
Who revealed the discontent, was Lyon, via the media....quite early in the year.
Of course freo should of picked up he had itchy feet.

Ross is obviously a great coach, he may well be better than most that coach at AFL level

He went on record as saying that it was his idea to bring in Pelchen after he was advised by his mentor Richard Colless to do so.Wayne42 wrote:I think he was smarter than you, i think he knew his list strategy had caught up with him and the fact that the Pelican now had total control meant that he was better off bailing, which he did..BigMart wrote:He wanted stk to commit to a deal. Re: To every one that craps on about Lyon...
Don't worry guys, I still think Hawks should win easy. Hawthorn's footskills are a step ahead. Freo's anti-footy won't work against them and certainly not at the G. I honestly see Hawthorn doubling Fremantle's score next week. So a 40-50 point win.
In Richo we trust.
