ST KILDA has not put any of its current players up for trade in discussions with other AFL clubs.
Media reports in recent weeks have mentioned Nick Dal Santo, Leigh Montagna, Sam Fisher and others in trade talks.
This time of year always brings some level of conjecture surrounding player movements and several stories have focused on what the Saints could offer during the forthcoming trade period.

statement was alluded to yesterday in the No to Dustin article.
But despite some reports, the Saints have not formally offered up any of their senior players in talks with other clubs.

Re: Statement from the club re: trades?
What that statement tells me is that clubs like GWS, North Melbourne & Essendon are doing all they can to de-stabilize our club and its plans for the up-coming Trade & Draft. It also says that they have had a gutful already and this is their way of trying to end the speculation !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Statement from the club re: trades?
Every club in the league will basically field any offers - we are no different. Most of the concerns over Dal et al has been pre-empted by Pelchen's statement about making unpopular decisions. If the right offer is made to us that will help build our list we'll take it. If not the player stays it's fairly simple from that perspective the same as at every other club. I don't think there are devious people inside the club trying to sell players off to undermine our stability, we are in rebuild, the old line-up won't be there for the next tilt. The players get that but it doesn't make it any easier leaving the playing group.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Statement from the club re: trades?
True. However on the Footy Show last week Lyon was razzing up Brayshaw about getting Dal and the smug response from the latter, plus panelist Brett Harvey, did nothing to douse rumours about North having a huge dip at #26.PJ wrote:Every club in the league will basically field any offers - we are no different. Indeed Lyon was trying to give the impression it was a done deal and Brayshaw was doing nothing to suggest otherwise.

The statement sounds like crap to me
Posting 20 years of holey crap!
Re: Statement from the club re: trades?
You could be right Doc but we can't control any of the footy show cr#p. One worrying recent event was our attempts to get Brown. I really hope we are trying to do better than 26 and the gorilla from North though.

Yes you are right. We will listen but not actively shop players around.GrumpyOne wrote:Read between the lines guys.

Good statement by the club. The last thing we want is for the younger guys to get the feeling the list is crumbling, and look for a way out. Everyone likes stability.
