Dal Update Sep 20
I've heard that St Kilda Football Club will release a press release on Dal today. Watch this space as they say.

"Dal Santo has exercised the trigger clause in his contract to remain with St Kilda, but the Kangaroos are desperate to bring him to Arden Street as the final ingredient of their midfield.
The Saints would receive a high draft pick in exchange as they set about injecting fresh young talent into their squad."
...must be trying for the wooden spoon next year if that's the case...

True, and wont it be Dal Santo's decision?
The one thing I would be concerned about is that at the end of the season Dal Santo was playing the Goddard role of a HBF.
Who will take his place? When not tagged his disposal is superb, and he has vision and vast experience to set up the attack.
I fear for our attack next season without him playing that role.
Lance or James??

Re: Dal Update Sep 20
I reckon that Pelchen (and possibly DalSanto) is playing games with the mainstream media, and possibly North Melbourne (EVERY club does it at this time of year). The trigger clause in Dal's contract means that there is NO RUSH to do anything as he is a contracted player. North Melbourne offering up a "HIGH" Draft pick for Dal? PLEASE. They are already committed to using their 1st Round pick on McDonald so they would have to trade another player out to get a "HIGH" Draft pick in that they could on-trade to us. I'm still debating with myself as to whether Footy Journos are STUPID, LAZY or BOTH !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

I think in this case they will be right. Got no idea how the journos have been over the top in this discussion as Dals manger spoke for everyone to hear.

May I ask what you think North could/would offer up to get the deal done, considering Dal is a contracted player? !!plugger66 wrote:Eastern wrote:I reckon that Pelchen (and possibly DalSanto) is playing games with the mainstream media, and possibly North Melbourne (EVERY club does it at this time of year). A second pick or maybe upgrade a pick or Delaney so plenty of options. Wouldnt do any of them apart from maybe an upgraded pick but it seems the saints are quite happy to lose him.

Re: Dal Update Sep 20
I wouldn't be happy with Delaney for DalSanto without any sweetener.
Delaney was originally a rookie pick and he's not held in any particular regard at North.

Re: Dal Update Sep 20
If we are going to 'give' an all time great away it better not be for an average pick like norths 2nd rounder which will be at around #30.
I will spew if that happens.

If they can't get their hands on a sub 20 pick, we should keep him... simple as that.
Delaney (a VFL defender from the rookie list) can come to us via the PSD, so isn't worth a cracker in trade terms.

Re: Dal Update Sep 20
We will always feel shafted in trade deals when we overvalue our players.
If we get anything better than pick 20-25 for Dal, Pelchen is very, very good.
As i have said before, I reckon its as much about Dal's trade value as it is about salary cap relief.
Just like the Dogs moving Lake on.
Big price contracts hurt the list balance as much as list cloggers.....

Why would we need Salary cap relief at the moment, and I assume Dal is or could be on the Vet list.maverick wrote:We will always feel shafted in trade deals when we overvalue our players.
