Matt Thomas Port Power
One from slightly left field, thoughts on Matt Thomas. Appears to have fallen out of favour with Hinkley and still only 27. Good hardened in and under could help some of the younger mids until some physical development kicks in. Not overly quick but knows how to get the ball.
Re: Matt Thomas Port Power
I reckon he will go very close to winning the Magarey medal over here. He is a very strong bodied guy . Only his disposal lets him down. Plays for Norwood over here and Bassett rates him very highly. We could get Basett as an assistant coach and he could bring Thomas with him.. Win win
Re: Matt Thomas Port Power
Won't be getting anyone under the age of 25 IMO. And if were were to get someone older, it wouldn't be a fringe player with question marks in the game.
Picking up someone like Matt Thomas is going back to the RL topping up style of recruiting and I feel very confident we wont be doing that with Trout, Bains and Pelchin in charge.

Re: Matt Thomas Port Power
Matt Thomas last night won Magarey Medal for SANFL. I know his disposal skills are what stops him from being a regular AFL player but he is hard as a crowbar with a body that stands up. Would IMHO be worth a very late pick or even a mature-age rookie list.

Why? So we can add him to the list of hard, honest players that can't kick?Saintlester wrote:Matt Thomas last night won Magarey Medal for SANFL. We got killed nearly every week by poor disposal either off half back or into our fifty that results in forward entries to our opposition and you think we should add to that problem?

We cannot and should not recruit players with dubious foot skills. Forget it!Saintlester wrote:Matt Thomas last night won Magarey Medal for SANFL.
