Dear Melbourne re Priority Pick request
F*ck off about getting a priority pick.
1. You tanked - and cheated the system.
2. Since 2006, you have had 15 national draft selections inside pick 26, 11 of those picks in the top 14.
3. You already had two priority selections, two No.1 overall picks, six picks in the top four.
4. You already have pick No.2 overall in the 2013 national draft.
5. You just got $2.7 mill from the AFL
6. You just secured the highest paid Coach contract in AFL history
7. So did I mention F*ck off?

Good stuff Con…
8. Your will to lose meant that 2 decent footballers walked away in McLean & Scully.
9. You had Brent Moloney running around in the VFL.
10. If you had a set of aggots, you would have drafted Luke Ball who could have been your captain.
11. Rodan, Byrnes, Gillies, Dawes, Clark - give us a f****** spell…

Given we want to express our collective disgust, turns out the AFL are somewhat reactive to adverse media. So, just in case 17 presidents isn't enough for them, please vote in this poll ...

12. You deliberately delayed your improvement by trading a top pick last year for a player who would not play for 12 months in Hogan.

Yes it does. means we go down one rung g with our second round pick and they are gifted an advantage over us with an extra DP.plugger66 wrote:Still think melbourne will get a priorty pick but at the end of round one which makes no real difference to us.

It may well be but that, right there, is their priority pick!plugger66 wrote:SinCitySainter wrote:12. You deliberately delayed your improvement by trading a top pick last year for a player who would not play for 12 months in Hogan.

Re: Dear Melbourne re Priority Pick request
If it is at the end of round one, then I couldn't really care less.
The AFL should say "Go ahead Melbourne fill your boots but never darken our doorstep again with such requests."

Re: Dear Melbourne re Priority Pick request
As well as Hogan, they spent pick 12 on Mitch Clarke.
I would expect that if the AFL were to correctly assess Melbourne's list, they would need to consider that Mitch Clarke did not play much in 2013 but still has the potential to perform in future, and that Hogan also did not play but still has the potential to perform in future.
With these two players coming into the team, and Clarke certainly able to make an immediate impact if he's fit, you can't really argue the case for a priority pick.
If they get the pick I'd be recommending that StKilda spend all of their early picks on Essendon players, knowing that they probably wont impact for 2 years, so we can continue getting early picks and priority picks over the next couple of seasons.

Melbourne's list is not that bad.
Their off field problems are the reason they've been cellar dwellers...
Partially by design when they tanked for picks but partially due to incompetent managers and officials.
With Jackson and Roos, hopefully, the AFL will see this as a positive and not need to compromise the first uncompromised draft in a number of years.
Re: Dear Melbourne re Priority Pick request
The whole change from automatic priority pick to the current system was designed to discourage tanking.
How foolish would it be if they now gave the tankers a pick?

Re: Dear Melbourne re Priority Pick request
The AFL will be harrangued by 15 presidents and 15 CEO's if Melbourne get a priority pick at the start of round 1.
Andy can and will do as he pleases. The afl wants to help the MFC (even if they don't deserve it) but doesn't want all the other clubs offside so a softer option at the end of round 1 seems to be the way they'll go
