I hope that he is carrying an injury.
His second half of the year has not been that flash.

Better sack the doctor then.
Nothing to play for, why put him out there injured?

I hope Ben has been injured.
Its been really discouraging watching him go around lately.
I would seriously contemplate Him and pick 19 to GWS for pick 1 and a player - Or something to that effect.
Because he has been invisible lately

His not even worth GWS Pick 10 let alone getting their 1 involved at this stage..

Agree. If this guy isn't injured and is playing like that then get what ever we can for him.
He must be carrying something and should be rested

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
Interestingly thought Hickey got more confident and improved once Big Ben went off. Started taking some grabs, think he won some tap outs and even kicked a goal.
Don't know if there is enough room for both of them in the team?

Ben would probably be exposed for pace, otherwise his height would be handy in either goal square.Doctor Two wrote:Interestingly thought Hickey got more confident and improved once Big Ben went off. Started taking some grabs, think he won some tap outs and even kicked a goal.

Both Hickey and Stanley look better (less bad) in the ruck.

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
I was freezing my proverbial off at an SANFL match here in Adelaide this afternoon so only swa last quarter and perhaps Ben's absence was a blessing because I thought Hickey took a massive step forward against two pretty fair ruckmen. (BTW Aish had a poor game for Norwood but Dumont was very good as an in and under Mid who wins his own ball. Hope he is still around at our second round but doubt it will be the case).

Hickey really blossomed with the responsibility.
Injured or otherwise, give Ben a rest next week.

If he isnt injured its called dropped. no resting for any player with 2 games to go.

Is that right? Stats are not everything, but I've had him in my SuperCoach side, and he was averaging over 100 till fairly recently.Old Mate wrote:He was horrible, has been since about round 5.
One of the highest scorers.
Still reckon he can be a very good ruckman.....

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
Im tiring of excuses for Ben.
1 good game. 5 bad. Repeat...
For his 5/6 bad - people say he is either injured, ill or 'still developing'.
Massively over-rated by Commentators who are just trying to be nice to us and look for positives for us fans.

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
Ben just aint that good.
Not physical enough. If you a re ruckman and you dont touch the ball at least block and throw your weight around.
Takes a few marks - but hes no gary Dempsey and has no strings to his bow.
Id prefer Hickey and Stanley as Ruckmen going fwd.
Ben aint going to get any better. Simply not mobile enough.

Tell it like it is. he was terrible today and hasnt been good for a few weeks. No interest in losing him though unless over priced.

Must have been ( i hope) was supprised to see him get the sub vest but he had a real shocker.Beno88 wrote:Clearly injured. Should not have played.
On the upside, when Hickley had to step up he did. Very solid effort from him in 2nd half.

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
I might have gone a bit early saying round 5 but seems he's been poor for ages now. I can't remember the last time he won in the hitouts and there hasn't been many games since the Blues game earlier in the year that he's been effective around the ground.MCG-Unit wrote:Is that right? He's a bit old school as a ruckman. He plays like a big old dinosaur although he's not that big compared to a lot of ruckman now a days. I don't know if he has much improvement left in him either. I'd love to be proven wrong by the big lump.
Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
I've been consistent in my concern about him.
I never question his commitment, I just think he may of starred young but not added much to that in terms of development.
He wasn't kicking goals or being damaging last year.
We tend to overate when he pushes back and takes a grab. Would rather he impacted the centre contest that it doesn't go in the opposition F50 so much

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
I'm not sure why people believe Ben holds a lot of trade currency. Put him next to Jonathan Giles and tell me why GWS would give up a significant asset to get him. If we're going to get Boyd, it's going to start with our first pick and then we're going to have to add significant assets to that to get him. They're going to be much more interested in players like Newnes than someone like McEvoy or Gilbert.
Yeah nah pleasing positive
Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
Ben's a bit of a conundrum, his good games are very good (around the ground) but he appears to be in a bit of a hole. Other clubs will still want him but at a reduced price which is not in our best interests to do. Either injured or it's between the ears.
And yes Hickey is better in the centre and has a bit more mongrel about him. Ben appears too polite.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
