Who are leaving at seasons end?
Which players will be leaving at the end of the year? How many rookies will be promoted? How many draft picks will we use?
Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
I don't like this time of year Baz, it's not until the draft that my 'footy mood' improves again
Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
Kosi & Blake look likely to retire
Possible legal outs - Milne, Saad
Delists - ???? Ledger seems a big candidate
Schneids body?

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
Certain to leave
Blake
Kosi
probably leave
Milne
Ledger
TDL if not contracted
Saad if gets penalised
Ferguson
Maybe maybe not
CJ
Hayes
Staley
Upgraded
Curran
Kept rookies
Minchinton
Dunell
Shenton
Lever
Trades could be anyone but still for some reason think Dal may go. Based on nothing at all.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
Dal depends on who'd benefit
Essendon?
Carlton?
North?
Richmond?
Don't know that any of them have anything to offer just yet.

Following P66's format:
Certain to leave:
Blake
Kosi
probably leave:
Milne
Ledger
Saad
Hayes
Staley
Upgraded
Curran
Minchinton
Kept rookies
Dunell
Shenton
Lever
TRADED - Dal Santo. Where there's smoke, there's usually a fire. The whispers this year aren't as strong as with BJ, but I have a gut feeling based on last year that we will see the back of Dal.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
Dunell is on the main list now, will be given more time you'd think
I heard Watters say that Schneids will definitely be around next year.
I reckon we would have looked at keeping only one of Ray & Jones, with Ray re-signing, I'm not sure if they'll keep CJ.
Milne would have to be nearly a definite retirement, the legal issues aside, his form has been terrible, he'll be 34 next year.
If Ledger can't get a game now, the coaches have a problem with him.
My Guess
Out: 7
Kos, Blake, Milne, CJ, Milne, Saad, Ledger
Rookie upgrade: 1
Curren
Draft: 4
Free Agent - add 1 or 2
Trade: IN/OUT ???
Hope Lenny goes on, but this year has been frustrating for him, wouldn't be surprised if he pulls the pin.
What about Jay Lever?
I'm sure TDL would have got at least a 2 year deal when moving down from Sydney.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
Just for completeness sakes, but when people are counting the number leaving and how many picks we'll have etc, it should be noted/remembered that Jay Lever is a senior listed player. Seems a few are treating him as though he's a Rookie.

Nailed it, except Lever is on the primary list and Staley a rookie, I assume you mean the other way around for both of them?plugger66 wrote:Certain to leave

Trades could be anyone but still for some reason think Dal may go. Based on nothing at all.
Depending on Milne and his situation I would delist CJ and keep Milney instead.
Ray and Curren can tag next year instead of CJ

No I stuffed it up and couldnt edit. The bottom 3 should be on the maybe maybe not list.

Can't remember ever seeing Lever play, but with that size if he's shown anything down back he needs at least another year.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
On Game Day yesterday they asked Joey this exact question. They rattled off names, he gave a 1 word response. Take it for what it's worth, his answers were:
Likely Gone:
Kosi, Blake
50/50:
Milne, Hayes
Definetly Stay:
Roo
Dal Santo
Schneider
Aside from that, I'd think certainly the guys who haven't had a look in yet are in trouble (Lever, Staley etc). Shenton's form has been good, but I'd worry for him if he cant crack a game in the next 3 weeks...
Ledger is gone. Not sure what the issue is - maybe wanted to go home last year but club wouldnt trade he and Cripps together?? Ferguson gone - has been at the club for a long time now, and has a key defensive post in the club's worst quarter
Curren upgraded (possibly at CJ's expense??)
Saad and Milne are out of our hands I think. Saad would stay because he has 1 more year on his contract, and Milne, who knows how his form would have gone had his "issues" not been dragged up again. His best game of the year was the week before the charges were laid...

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
My take on the list movements would be -
Retire:
Kosi
Blake
Milne
Hayes (possible)
Delist:
Saad (Minchington/Curren are already better options)
Lever (Delist and then add rookie list)
Ledger (Hopefully trade)
Shenton (Mature aged rookie who will not improve further)
Fergusson (NSW rookie - delist/trade)
STALEY to remain another year on the rookie list - chances he will make a KPD.
That leaves a minimum of 6 Senior List positions, and given that Curren and Minchington will now most likely be upgraded. I believe we only had the 39 senior listed players this year so that will leave a maximum of 5 senior list positions without further trades or delisting's.
If we are to add another midfielder and KP defenders to the club then they may to have to off load some more fringe players you would think.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
I'm not that worried about which Rookies will go, its the main list that's going to be hard to manage.
Kosi and Blake. Surely at least 2 of TDL, Saad, Milne , Schnieder ( depending on circumstances ).
Probably Ledger.
My understanding is that after 2 years, Lever has only just started to show some half decent form in the VFL.
I'd suggest that he wont play a game next season, so there is no point keeping him on the main list.
But to Rookie him, you have to ask, does he show more promise as a Rookie than all the other VFL /WAFL/SAFL listed players out there?
That's 6.
If we elevate Minchington and Curran that's 4.
If we need more I'd look to another of the mosquito fleet , ( given that Milera has re-signed ).

We have 40 senior listed players this year!
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

schneiderman has to stay

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
My guess....
Retire : Blake, Koschitzke, Milne, Hayes
Delist : Ledger, Dennis-Lane, Lever, Staley, Ferguson
Upgrade : Curren, Minchington
Jones's survival may depend on whether Hayes retires or not. I want Lenny to play on, but if he isn't sure now, I doubt he'll have the desire to go again.
Saad may end up being retained on the rookie list. Could be at the expense of Shenton, but I think they'll give Shenton one more crack. His improvement from the start of 2012 to now has been excellent, if he continues his improvement he'll be playing for the Saints this time next year.
As far as potential trades go, we lack currency, big time. I can't see any major trades being made unless we part with Fisher, Gilbert, Gwilt or Stanley, and given our lack of defensive talls, that's highly unlikely.
That leaves us with five national draft picks (after upgrades) and four rookie picks.

May I just point out one thing that has been said by a few now. people think Lenny wont play because he hasnt told us yet what he wants to do. This is exactly the same as last year. he hadnt told the public his intentions as of yet this same time last year. he may retire but I wouldnt read anything into what has been said as of yet. I have heard from someone who should know that the club want him to play on. thats at least a start.
Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
FWIW
Retire
Milne, Blake, Kosi, Hayes
Delist
CJ, Saad, Ledger, Ferguson, TDL
Upgrade
Curren, Minchington
Rookies
Clean them all out apart from the ones listed above and get a new batch in.
Which leaves 6 draft picks. Use 4 in National draft and save a couple for the Pre-Season draft in case someone was available who suits our needs.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
That's not right concerning Lever. Staley has improved physically and as a player but Lever hasn't. Retaining Lever would represent a major leap of faith and he would be odds against at this stage to be retained on the list.Kickit wrote:I'm not that worried about which Rookies will go, its the main list that's going to be hard to manage.

Staley looks a big boy these days, saw him walking with Markworth and they both appear to have bulked up.
Not sure we should delist him just yet given the big guys can take awhile?

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
He deserves a chance. He's come from nowhere, spent most of last year in the Zeb's ressies, is hard at it and has stacked on the muscle.
