Stanley fractured his collarbone in Saturday’s loss to the Brisbane Lions and will undergo surgery.

Simpkin had developed increased pressure in a compartment of his lower left leg and had surgery on Monday.

Apparently a few guys are still struggling but most have been back on the track this week.

The virus hit Newnes, Dennis-Lane, Ross, Wright, Murdoch, Hickey, Geary and McEvoy last week.

Why risk playing two relatively important players who are returning from significant injuries in games of no significance

I really cant see the point - surely put them in cotton wool for the rest of the season and get them ready for next year

I agree with Devilhead. If they are out for two games that would mean they would have to return to footy straight to the senior team against Fremantle. Far too risky.

Shoulder surgery has finished Jack Newnes' season.

ST KILDA pair James Gwilt and Jack Newnes have had their seasons finished one week early with operations.

Gwilt has undergone minor surgery on his knee and Newnes will have surgery on his shoulder.

Gwilt played 13 games this year for a career total of 109, while Newnes played 18 following on from his seven last year.
