After his first season was ruined by shin splints, Webster has been strategically rested at points this year, allowing him to play nine AFL games and four at VFL level. Jack Newnes (15 games this season) and Seb Ross (10), who have enjoyed promising seasons, have also been rotated out of the team and given rests to avoid burnout. Meanwhile, Nathan Wright (eight), Josh Saunders (seven), Brodie Murdoch (six), Tom Lee (six) and Tom Curren (two) have made their debuts. Webster, who made his debut in round seven, said keeping the young group fresh had been a strategic focus for the club
The classy left-footer had a career-high 15 disposals at a typically proficient 80 per cent, further illustrating his elite kicking skills that complement his ability to read the play from half-back.
"I was pretty happy with my performance," Webster told SAINTS.com.au on Saturday night. "It was a big focus from last week to join in and no trailing so that's what I focussed on today and it was probably my best game yet - I'm loving it."
The 20-year-old back flanker put much of his 2013 improvement down to Scott Watters and the rest of the coaching panel, but also praised a couple of his teammates for their leadership over the past two seasons.
"It's been great how Seany Dempster and Jarryn Geary have really taken me under their wing," he said. "They are two blokes that play a similar sort of role to what I play. So during the week I watch footage of who I am going to come up against and these two guys have been a great help to me."

Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly..!!
It will be great to augment this group with some more players of similar quality. Good on SW and his coaching staff for successfully introducing them into the AFL.

WOW, Posters praising SW, that won't catch on here, not whilst we are crapola... And definitely not after a loss..
personally, I like what SW is doing, rebuilds take awhile, I hope we end up with better depth than what we had in the RL years...
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
