very very very few optionsplugger66 wrote:Why should he be Captain? Clearly our best tonight but Im unsure most successful clubs work on the best player for the season.
joey has to be one of 2 or 3 options.

Re: Joey
Give it to Armo. At least the effort sets the right example. Ben was surely playing injured tonight. One of the most physically insipid efforts for a man of his size I've ever seen. Or maybe that's Ben's problem. He poses no physical threat to the opposition.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
Re: Joey
We keep saying that after ben's games. If he's injured don't play him.White Winmar wrote:Give it to Armo. At least the effort sets the right example. Ben was surely playing injured tonight. Re: Joey
Yes, I agree about Joey as Capt, posted that last week.... Refuted though.... I believe he has earned it!

Two weeks ago he was lazy, pathetic and soft

Totally agree, he played his heart out tonight and lead by example and that's what a captain does.White Winmar wrote:Give it to Armo. At least the effort sets the right example. I am sure you would understand what it is to struggle.plugger66 wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:Totally agree, he played his heart out tonight and lead by example and that's what a captain does.White Winmar wrote:Give it to Armo. nothing to say
Re: Joey
Which weeks did he really struggle?? What is considered struggling?? Lack of Possessions, tackling, defensive pressure, poor kicking skills...
Has had a great year... Will finish top 6 in the B&F and plays team footy.... Leads by example wrt to physical impact on the contest.... Hamill, Selwood, Hayes, Swallow, Hodge, Voss, Kelly were inspirational captain because of their intensity and attack on the footy... He is a competitor....
Other aspect of leadership is ability to direct and communicate
Harley, Ling, Maxwell, Van Berlo.... Not Top 6 finishers, but good leaders obviously....
Good players, aren't always the best leaders..... Good leaders provide examples to follow wrt to effort.... And make others play better...
Armo and Geary are the two players who have a ferocious and unwavering attack on the game.... Imo
But Joey should be Captain

Re: Joey
Its Rooey's if he wants it, but he may miss more game time next year. Joey would have to be in the mix, but I can't see another stand-out candidate who is ready for the job.

WRT Dal Santo, it's only a couple on here that slam him - then a few more follow. If he has 'only' 20+ poss, and according to some, looked like he didn't try hard according to their expectations, he's no good.
Might be ok again for next week - then trade bait the round after that..........

But it did happen. And its not just the 4 week of footyplugger66 wrote:I reckon if we had this thread 4 weeks ago everyone would have said keep Rooy as captain. Amazing what 4 weeks of footy can do.
Its 4 weeks of footy + injury concerns + birth certificate says hes 31 at seasons end - so of course people will be asking the question.
Im sure the same question is being asked of Darren Glass, Boomer Harvey lost the captaincy around that age and Ill bet Matthew Boyd at the Dogs is in a similar position.
Roo is no different to those 3 blokes.
