It's not all bad, at least we are not Essendon.

I'm positive that I decided to stay home tonight and am not currently driving back up the highway right now.
Also positive there is a chance we might not play Geelong down there next year.
Also positive that believe or not, we we're actually two goals up twice during tonight's game.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Good on them. About time we get a priority pick. You did see the score on their match today....

Good point 3gs. Upto qtr time we outplayed the possible premiership favourites at their home ground in hardness at the footy, getting numbers to the contest and running forward. Where it is still collapsing is when the momentum swings against us none on the younger players can stand up and turn it back. They just go into a bit of trance. IN modern footy blowouts are quite common where there is a mismatch in experience and body size.

Other good things from the silver linings playbook:

-- Jack Steven showed he is becoming a leader even at his young age by trying to make things happen - his turnovers really let him down but he wasn't alone there in the cats hard press.
-- Armo showed great courage attacking the footy on quite a few occasions. Another bulk up preseason and he's could be a real tough nut
-- Tommy Lee showed he has a good knack for finding space in the fwd 50
-- Some of the young players in defense like Newnes and Simpkin showed great heart in competing against the odds
-- As we keep recruiting and developing our general level of cohesion is only going to go up. AT the moment we are a weird mixture of battle worn veterans and quite green newbies.

They might, too. We are in the basket case class as well, yet no sign of the AFL offering us a bail-out package

When the final siren sounded, Geelong couldn't kick a higher score.

Back in 1979 we were due to play Collingwood at Victoria Park, I had come off night shift and decided rather than go to bed, I'd make the trip in to see the saints play. I had a feeling we would win. We got done by 178 points that day, but I could assure myself that things couldn't get any worse.

I think Newns was a massive positive.

26 touches, granted at half back but he will be a good player.
Love Tom Lee. Gets the game just needs size and fitness

Jack Steven is and always has been my new love child. He is awesome

This! Incredibly impressed with him so far, honestly believe he will be a gun.

Saunders attacks it hard, very rough around the edges but reckon he's a keeper, may never be A-Grade but one of those hard nuts every club needs.

Webster tried but overwhelmed by numbers. Agree Lee looks like he'll be OK with another pre-season, has footy smarts.

Newnes a revelation. Already looks like a future leader.

Geary's first half excellent, another one overwhelmed by numbers as the game went on.

Felt sorry for Simpkin who battled manfully considering he was punching so far out of his weight division. Wish Rhys had tried as hard(sorry that is probably a bit harsh but he did seem to honestly look at times that he would rather be somewhere else).

I was at that game as well. It's the only time I've ever left a match before the final siren - it was not much fun at all and I left at 3 quarter time :(

The umpire did not cost us the game.

Good first quarter, but we just got overwhelmed. To think that we were on a par with Geelong a few years ago, it is bewildering how far and how quickly we have fallen. No-one at the top of the Saints administration seems to accept any of the blame.

We have some good "triers," but I cannot yet see any up-coming stars except for Jack .... if he can improve his kicking.

Big Silver lining.

We wont have to pay about $700 for finals tickets for the next few seasons

Another: They may havfe a good football team, but at least i am not an inbred hillbilly and have to actually live in Geelong.

Last: Jacks Jaw wasn't broken by that dog act.

Lance or James??
