The lack of effort from 75% was stunningly bad

Well, our skills have been shyte. Even with our deficiencies in defence, our single biggest issue (and it's been the same for ages) is skills.

I noticed that too- didn't look interested at all.spert wrote:I can't knock Jack's effort, but his turnovers are terrible and cost us goals- maybe the knock to the head didn't help him earlier. Not impressed with Geary tonight either. Very unhappy to see Siposs not attack a loose ball, would have been an easy possession, instead he stood and watched Selwood bend over and get the ball and set up a goal- not a good sign.

Very disappointing. None of the young players have the ability to change the momentum when it starts to go pear shaped - excepting Jack Stephen who at least tried to take the game on. Take solace that Geelong were exceptional. The pressure everywhere was immense. Didn't have one easy ball after qtr time. Players need to be able to stay in the trenches longer. Just one of those nights. No need to panic. Been a long season for the young squad.

Re: OFFICIAL GAME THREAD v Geelong !!
Steven get 36 possession in a 100 point loss, no goals after half time, just means his teammates were not pulling their weight- a pathetic effort regardless of any excuses. Apart from Steven, I think Jones was the only other player who had a real go for four quarters. There a few players who Watters would be thinking of moving on at the end of the season after this effort...he needs to have a think about how he is doing too- if you put a team on the field who can't kick a goal in a half of football, and who display terrible skills, then the finger needs to be pointed. At least we saw good sportsmanship after the game between the two teams.

Re: OFFICIAL GAME THREAD v Geelong !!
I came home turned on the television half way through the 2nd quarter and didnt even see us kick a goal
Our forwardline was non existant - the amount of times we were running the ball forward and then all of a sudden the player with the ball did a 180 and handballed backwards was laughable
I guess losing Gwilt, Roo and then Hayes didnt help
Bad loss sure but put it down as experience and move forward
Back in 2002 we lost to the Cats by 122pts down at the cattery - 2 years later we were in the top 4

It was like boys playing men. So many bigger bodies, like essendon, were able to cast our players aside. Did better at the start because we retained more possesion. Once they started getting the ball it was over although most of our boys did try to mix it with them they were physically not strong enough.

Such a boring game to watch. No goal scored for 99 minutes! You depress me stkilda.
