We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
There should be a few ahead of him IMO so I hope not.

Re: Shenton
Minchington would struggle to be match fit i would think. Shents is the right age and is surely on his last chance if he doesn't. Who is ahead for promotion? Lever? Minchington has ben injured but looks okay. Staley-I must have missed his 28 possessions 2 goal games. Ferg, Dunell and Curren already up- Ledger might get given games like a rookie but he is senior listed.
Maybe we could find a way to get Cockie and Sheapherd rookie listed and elevate them.

Re: Shenton
He looked alright late last year off the backline. I haven't seen much of the sandy games this year so don't know what he's going like but what makes you guys think he doesn't have the goods to make it? Is it his skills, application, attitude?

Re: Shenton
What strengths does Shenton have that would make him capable of being an AFL player? He has had some good patches of form at state level, but I don't see where he'd play or why he'd be ahead of all the guys on our senior list. From what I've seen he struggles to stay involved in games, isn't particularly quick, particularly skilled or smart. He does look tough and has played all over the ground, but I can't see him playing an AFL game. If he did it would probably have to be as a defensive forward, and we've got plenty of small forwards ahead of him.

Re: Shenton
Simply doesn't look that standard of footballer to me.
He's that in between height, mid paced, poor skills. Does some good things from time to time - tends to float in and out of games a bit. Seems a bit wishy washy. Has definitely become a better and more consistent VFL footballer but that's where he's suited IMO.

Re: Shenton
I've seen him play quite a few times and although he does some nice things, he needs to work on his speed!!

I'm running my campaign with "Stop the posts". It aims to stop foreign trolls alighting on the boards of our forum. Just because Collingwood and Essendon fans f$%# up their forum doesn't mean they should come over here. Send em off to the big footy camps until they find out if they are real posters.

Re: Shenton
Shenton seems to have played just about everywhere a small/mid sized player can so I'll name all who can play one of those roles. Not ranked though.Con Gorozidis wrote:Name names and rank themplugger66 wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:Has the Wild man earnt his shot at promotion?

Dunell - similar height to Shenton, also versatile. Better skills, better overhead, quicker
Ledger - dominating and should have been in the team a long time ago
Minchington - faster, better skilled, more damaging. Injuries probably have cost him a shot this year though, I doubt he has the tank except maybe as sub
Ross - hit some good form and should return soon
Wright - nuf said
Siposs - also similar height, form hasn't been great but we've seen he can be very damaging, needs experience

Well we are talking this week only because we have no idea what will happen after that so its
Ross
Wright
Dunell
Ledger
Murdoch
Siposs
Saad
and then we can think about Shenton.
Re: Shenton
Maybe Minchington might get up graded by years end with Terry Milera out for the rest of the year and on the LTI list?
IMO he seems the most likely more so then Staley and Shenton. And Scotty loves him apparently so that might help!

Re: Shenton
Curren won the Sandi B&F, was ripping it up most weeks and showed the dedication that some senior players don't show. How long did it take him to get promoted? I'm not saying he is isn't any good but he'd have no hope of being upgraded this year at least anyway.

I guess Im looking at the rest if this year as information gathering.
I guess Id like to see blokes out of contract in 2014 to play some games so we can make a decision on their future.

Not so long ago this guy was seen as no chance at all. His improvement this year has surprised a few who had written him off. I doubt that he will get a promotion but I also believe he is being looked at through new eyes.

From True Zebras.
Cameron Shenton (27 disposals, 6 marks, 2 goals): The negating tagger played as a midfielder on Sunday and he shined in the new role. In what was his best game for the season, he broke through the Gold’s midfield and was lethal in his kicking.

We must take this game with a grain of salt as bendigo are terrible... Hopefully he continues the form though...
Re: Shenton
Surely there's a spot for Milera to be put on the LTI list.
I wouldn't mind Shenton having a crack, I mean Ferguson hasn't been a success, but sometimes you take a chance. Think he looked ok in the pre-season

I would do it because in all likely hood if he doesn't get a go now he is probably not going around again. Might as well see if he can lift his performance in the seniors, Lee looks a million times better in the senior side than at VFL level. I don't begrudge anyone that has shown they want an opportunity getting a run if possible. His 28 possession game says he wants a chance and we don't really have anything to play for but the future right now.
