Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
SW is going to give his Subiaco mate TDL absolutely every opportunity.
But TDL needs to give himself some opportunities by hitting the friggin gym and learning to play midfield.
A full time fwd is fine in the second tier comps but not enough for AFL.

Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
I don't think that, but we do need players to be more versatile. There's no room for more than one, two at most, one-dimensional small forwards who cannot go through the midfield rotation. No wonder Steven and co are stuffed by 3/4 time and cannot run out games.joffaboy wrote:yeah real swap, Ross for Stanley or for a small forward.
Some of you think players can come in and just play anywhere.
As for Stanley, if he plays I hope and pray it is not on the last line of defence. He looked completely clueless last week. Simpkin obviously brought in to try to address his deficiencies. Whack him at chb

Yeah Milne has been hopeless for us as a small forward
Lance or James??

Totally agree. Like Maister he is just not a backman.

Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
Ross needs a couple of weeks at the slower tempo. He was looking knackered in his last couple of games. Murdoch has had a few weeks in and now he'll have a little break as well. I like the way Watters is handling these young guys. Three weeks in, two weeks out. They get valuable experience without getting physically burnt. He seems to be keeping it to a maximum of 5 or 6 youngsters per game.
Dennis-Lane had better put in a big one if he wants to play next week. If Curren performs well, then we may see Dal Santo and Armitage spending bits and pieces up forward. I'd back them to win the football ahead of TDL any day. Milera will be extremely fortunate to regain his place in the team. I don't see it happening.
The big question is will Riewoldt play. He was really struggling after that knock to his knee last week.

Ok so because Milne is good - then all small forwards are good?
Terrific logic!
Im judging TDL on his own merits - and he doesnt do enough.
Milne's career has been a HIGHLY unusual one. Hes basically a freak.

Why? He played one good quarter for Sandy last week and three ordinary ones.SainterK wrote:Ledger would be devastated IMO, feel bad for him

TDL played a defensive role last week and did a good job to.

Stanley. We're still a mid light and Stanley did 2/5ths of f.a. last week.bergholt wrote:Who would you have dropped to bring him in?bigcarl wrote:Seb Ross absolutely tore it up for Sandy, but didn't get a gig. What gives?

Ross is obviously a better player than tdl , but I guess at this stage tdl will be delisted at the end of the year and has six weeks to prove himself . Ross is long term . We aren't playing for points this year . We re trying to sort the list out for the future , and we need a small forward.

We should give Rob Eddy & McQualter a call... See if they want come back next year.CURLY wrote:TDL played a defensive role last week and did a good job to.
Defensive small forward that doesn't tackle... Friggin' spare me, lets try and develop forwards who kick goals and relish a contest.

The coaches are performing so well.... I fully entrust them with all decisions...
Told you what I heard about Ledger, he won't get a gig regardless.... Which is pathetic.
If he doesn't deserve a game over TDL ill be a monkeys uncle.... Those saying he's ordinary (with authority) how many good opportunities has he got?! He may well be crap, lets confirm it, before stamping any papers....

Had no influence on the game Walker.dragit wrote:Walker had 10 more touches, 5 more marks & a goal more than TDL... I'm sorry but that's a loss.

No the coach hates him. They are all 4 years of age at our club.

His performances at senior lvl were encouragingchook23 wrote: has been tried at the level ...although some time ago..
I can not believe why some want him in..........
he is ordinary IMO
His form at Sandy has been as good if not better then Ross, Saunders, Murdoch, Saad, Milera and TDL to name a few... All who have had multiple opportunities and at times played very poorly.
Why is he not worth a shot..?
He could play in a FP and even if he scores no goals, could contribute more than TDL and Saad

Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
Ledger should tell SW that his girlfriend is from Perth and his parents are relocating to Perth.
He is buying a holiday house in Dunsborough (WA)
All of that should help his cause.

Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
Ledger is from WA?
Point??
His lack of opportunity is staggering since Watters took over, some player are just not rated by some coaches and blossom elsewhere
He needs to go elsewhere....
The boy can certainly win the footy, his effectiveness is questionable.... We need to ask the question in the seniors
He has done his apprenticeship, and Adam Cockie aside has been the most consistent ball winner at Sandy for three years... And he's only 21

Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
Not exactly like for like. The argument isn't about whether Ross is better than TDL, it's whether the coach wants a mid or a small forward. If he wants a small forward then Ross isn't the answer.8856brother wrote:TDL quite obviously.bergholt wrote:Who would you have dropped to bring him in?bigcarl wrote:Seb Ross absolutely tore it up for Sandy, but didn't get a gig. Re: Round 17 Team v Port Adelaide
Why does everyone think Ledger hasn't had a go? He had four games last year. He could well get another this year.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"
