Daniel Markworth
How good is this bloke and where does he fit in next season if fit? This season Id say Murdoch, Webster, Saunders, Wright, Lee, Ross, Hickey, Ross, Newnes, Roberton are all long term players. Can we add Markworth to this list site unseen?

Re: Daniel Markworth
He was just coming good last year and looked a player. He is almost that right size now too and he looks like he has a frame that will fill out. I can see him eventually as a big bodied mid forward and has nice kicking skills like a Chapman type if we are lucky.

Re: Daniel Markworth
What I had heard was that he was the pick of the kids so far. Very quick and nice kick. Has apparently put on significant size whilst out with the knee, so his body will be up to it when he's right to go.

Re: Daniel Markworth
I don't think you can add any player that hasn't debuted personally…CURLY wrote:Can we add Markworth to this list site unseen?
I think they are grooming him as a link player, high leading forward…
Was close to BOG in his last game - sandy final.
Then pre-season was smashing it apparently, in the top few for plenty of metrics. Very unfortunate to do his knee as he was expected to play plenty of games this year.
He has elite pace off the mark, up there with Stanley & Saad over a short distance
Not sure if he's Chapman like gringo, not sure who I'd liken him to…

wasn't suggesting the likeness more the way we could use him well in the future with a guess at the size he might end up at. Steve Johnson owned the small forward role with several others like Stokes and Varcoe who could also run on the ball also and swap up with Chappy but could also be a mid sized forward or utility as well as a genuine mid.

Re: Daniel Markworth
He's definitely a keeper imo.
From what I've seen him playing in the VFL he runs hard and isn't afraid of contact even though he was lightly built.
Seems to be a fine young intelligent man also.
Looking forward to seeing him debut with extra size.

Re: Daniel Markworth
Lets hope that he hasn't lost any pace since doing the ACL.... seems to happen to a few.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Re: Daniel Markworth
Despite his issues this year, fairly confident you can add Siposs to this list also...CURLY wrote:How good is this bloke and where does he fit in next season if fit? I think he needs this season as a down year to realise how hard it really is at the top level...

Speed wasnt his best asset anyway it's his footy brain aka Lenny so he should be as good as new when he's backRichter wrote:Lets hope that he hasn't lost any pace since doing the ACL.... seems to happen to a few.
Re: Daniel Markworth
A benefit of him doing his knee during pre-season traning, is that he will pretty much be ready to go at the end of this season....
this means he can have a break with the rest of the group and by 100% ready for the next pre-season.... I am a little sucked into the hype following this one... seems to be smart, and clean... and hopefully has proper 'Footy Smarts'.
This is a term that gets thrown around a little too lightly when recruiting, but it is sooooooo important...
I saw it in Josh Saunders at the weekend, a bit, hopefully some of our young lads can demonstrate this more over the remainder of our season

Re: Daniel Markworth
Jas a contract for next year, so he can not stress about that and just worry about getting his body right.
Running, and feeling like a footballer again, so I'm glad in a way he missed it that much.
Seems a determined mature young man.

Re: Daniel Markworth
Nice size. Very agile/athletic in a Fyfe kind of way but more pace and without the marking ability. Extremely talented prospect who could be anything. Hopefully he has no further knee problems.

Caro was very excited about his potential earlier this year. Unusual for a journo to be pumped up about a Saints

I was asking Lloyd21 who said he had grown a lot. He was around 190 when drafted.chook23 wrote:if he has grown - 190-191savatage wrote:What height would you consider him to be?lloyd21 wrote:Stood next to him at eagles game grown a lot also , also across the shoulders looks a real unit.
Re: Daniel Markworth
I saw him listed anywhere from 189-191 when it was draft time, thus why I'm asking.chook23 wrote:SORRY..................he had not replied

Serious question. I could be way off but does Markworth remind anyone of James Hird?
Also, what happened to all our "gun" 2010" draft picks?
It's not that easy but they don't seem that much better than what we recruited the last couple of years before that.
Aaron really is the forgotten man. I hope he can come good.
