Jones deserves credit
I believe on here most people thinks Jones should not be playing due to lack of skills.
He was one of the few that had a crack. Won numerous clearances forward 50 entries and a goal. Even his kicking was good tonight.
Without him in the middle I feel we would have lost by a lot more.
Good work Jonesy. Keep it up.

Re: Jones deserves credit
He was good tonight- at the game you see how hard he runs and creates the link up. He is a workhorse even if his skills can let him down but not as bad as he was a few years ago. He gets picked because he gut runs all day. Great example to the kids - if Curren or Ledger had CJs work rate they would be picked every week.

Yep and still went at %54 disposal efficiency only surpassed by Seb Ross and Kosi who were in the 40's....ROLS-LEE wrote:I believe on here most people thinks Jones should not be playing due to lack of skills.

He was our second highest in dream team points (107) somehow with that percentage and only 24 disposals- that doesn't sound right.

Re: Jones deserves credit
Given his 54% efficiency he is getting into Jack Daniels territory.
Needs to focus on reversing his kick/handball ratio.
Aim for 21 handballs and 3 ineffective kicks.

He was good tonight I'll grant him. Never question his work ethic and guts. But the reality is him playing means a young player misses out on a games experience. I know its a balancing act between being competitive and blooding young players and Watters may feel he needs Jones bigger experienced body for the contested ball. Seeing as the season is totally shot, I'd rather lose by a few more goals and have a young player in.

I understand what ur saying but some positions need harder bodies. You don't want to do what we did to luke ball and wreck their body too early.Bluthy wrote:He was good tonight I'll grant him. I have no problems with Jones, an excellent team player who is hard at he contest, and not really one of the reasons we are doing badly

Re: Jones deserves credit
He had about 4 smothers as well, our midfield could learn a lot from his relentless hard running. Has to be in the side

Speaking to a Demons supporter mate yesterday he was saying that losing Moloney and Rivers etc. really put the kids backwards. He was saying the balance they had when Bailey was there was tampered with and shot the confidence of lots of kids. Letting them go out and get smashed by 100 points every week doesn't make you feel more empowered.

Re: Jones deserves credit
needs to go
i mean his disposal is that shocking we must get rid of him yeah???
yeah for sure
(might have a 50% disposal rate when he has a lot of kicks) but who will we replace the hardest running and hardest working midfielder with ??
(ok maybe equal hardest working with stevo)

Re: Jones deserves credit
Good points. I'm sure he's passing on his tagging tips and work ethic to the kids, setting an example on the training track. He's just more of a role player - particularly as a tagger under Lyon when he was at his peak. Whether he should be on the list next year I don't know. Probably lifted in the last few weeks cause he knows he's playing for his career.gringo wrote:ROLS-LEE wrote:I understand what ur saying but some positions need harder bodies. Re: Jones deserves credit
Jones has had numerous games this year where his kicking has been good, even stood out because you really focus on it. I reckon he's having a good year and as somebody else alluded to, he has to be in the team because of his stronger body and experience. Just because his kicking isn't the best doesn't mean he isn't a huge influence on the young guys and/or making a significant impact on their development. Can anybody else that might be in the know provide some insight into that aspect of his contribution to the team and club?
