Ross Lyon...Before The Game
Did anyone happen to see his interview on this show tonight ? Just wondering if any panel membet brought up his time with Saints and how poor he left our list and how poor his list development short comings are....I suspect not.

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
They should have asked him, that would make him explain why we are where we are, he could tell us why he went down the role player path, dragit wrote:Why would a panel member do that?
Let it go...
he could also admit he got out coz he knew the list was Gonski .
He was good but flawed, Watters has to wear his weakness..
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

The media in general are too soft to ask that.Wayne42 wrote:They should have asked him, that would make him explain why we are where we are, he could tell us why he went down the role player path, dragit wrote:Why would a panel member do that?

Only realistic chance would be Footy Crappified.

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
LOve to see Freo put out of the finals by a Luke Ball goal on the siren!
Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
Firstly, I'd like to point out that he walked away from the club in brand new facilities, so not sure why he had to bring up the conditions of his office.
Secondly, I saw similar issues that can be exploited further.
The toll it takes on the players is still enormous, so many cramps, hamstrings, injuries in general....watching McPharlin trying to push back to defence after being up the ground was so familiar to me.
If teams don't heavily tag Barlow and/or Mundy when they return, I'll be staggered. Just like the Bartel onto Hayes tag in 09, shut down the Ross Lyon engine room and he appears to struggle big time.

Couldn't care less but a Zac turnover 10 meters out with 3 seconds left on the clock would be better.

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
Lets look at where Freo were and where they are heading to now....
Dont give the whole "their players just matured..." rubbish.....the guy can get a team to follow a game plan like few can.
Is it a flag winning plan? - not at the moment and I see weaknesses still when sides score against them cause they just cant bridge the gap and IMHO his fwd power at St Kilda was far superior to what he has at Dockers. He still needs to balance the flair with defense.....but geez he can get them to play and compete.
That said, this side is no longer the easy beats of the comp. IF they get those injured 4 back playing before finals....they'll be in the mix.
I wonder what we wouldve been like had he been in charge of us now.......dont know why but for some reasons I reckon we'd have won more games...

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
Yeah I reckon we would be four wins better off.
We would be playing horrible, HORRIBLE football to watch, but we would have won some games.
Yet to see any drafted player development from Lyon. He will cook Freo's list in two years.

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game
You could make a good case that Lyon is coach of the year to this point.
No pav or Sandilands for virtually the whole year, on top of a bunch of injuries to key players and still they sit 5th on the ladder.
In their next five games they've got: saints, eagles, Richmond, Adelaide and Carlton. I'd probably back then to win 4 of those. They'll be there abouts come finals time.

why Ball? If we beat Freo twice in the next ten rounds we could put em out of the finals race altogether.whiskers3614 wrote:LOve to see Freo put out of the finals by a Luke Ball goal on the siren!

How many times were Wallace and Eade coach of the year?QuestionOfAccuracy wrote:You could make a good case that Lyon is coach of the year to this point.

They were both media darlings who won the same number of flags as Lyon.

Gee you lot are plain nasty!
It's been a good round so far - bar the drug cheats win.
Freo getting smashed and Carlscum 2 wins out of the eight are highlights.
