Re: Tom Simpkin- 2 weeks
Just curious...what did Dawes do to warrant the hit? Read from someone that Dawes did something to instigate it. Didn't absolve Tom though. Dumb thing to do.
Also loved the big tough guy remonstrating from Dawes going in for half-time. Scary!

Re: Tom Simpkin- 2 weeks
It's just a bit of his Colac nature creeping to the surface. It's whack or be whacked there!
It will be interesting to see how this impacts selection. You wouldn't think Ferguson would be picked off an ordinary game for Sandy and I doubt he could go with Riewoldt or Vickery (or any AFL forward, really). Maybe Siposs will be brought in as a forward to move Stanley back, or Hickey as a ruck/forward or even White might get his debut.
Or they could just back Dempster on Riewoldt, Gwilt on VIckery and Roberton on McGuane.

Re: Tom Simpkin- 2 weeks
we will get creamed this week.
we needed simpkin badly
who is better our of ferg and staley? some of the sandy watchers seem to rate staley.
i guess with rhys/gwilt/dempster/roberton down back we wont be too badly off but simpkin is the only real match up for jack.

On AFL360 they've argued it should definitely be medium impact.saint66au wrote:Ahh so its OK for Tom to get a couple so long as everyone else gets rubbed out too, preferably for longer.
High contact, low impact, intentional..how can anyone possibly argue with that
Would have been a one weeker but he has priors
I tend to agree.
Very, very lucky it's only a 2 week penalty. That's the facts.

Yes, a very silly act, why did he do it ?Junction Oval wrote:A stupid reaction by him on Sunday. Very costly with Fisher out, to both Tom and the Club.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Brain fade, but will come back into the side, he played too well to be left out.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Prob right but its a major worry why it happened in the first place. Makes no sense for someone trying to cement a spot.3rd generation saint wrote:Brain fade, but will come back into the side, he played too well to be left out.

Dumb action, not good for the team and should come back via Sandy as a reminder. Who comes in to replace a tough defender? Sandy have hit the skids, and no real prospects putting their hands up.

Re: Tom Simpkin- 2 weeks
I want to see Simpkin playing - chewing through the minutes and quarters of any afl game he can get to for the rest of 2013. I saw enough of him in 2012 to be inspired and have plenty of confidence in him having a long career as a Saints player.
Also he is just good to watch. Tom needs to draw a line in the sand and wrestle back what is remaining of 2013 and fill it with Tom Simpkin highlights -1%ers, enthusiasm and a steely determination to try and maintain that 2012 form.
The next 2 weeks have been wiped out as opportunities to get himself back into contention.
Come on Tom don't do yourself an injustice get that Simpkin form back into the Saints 22.
JUST DO IT SIMPKIN!

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.
