Milney's expiry date - fact or fiction?
The general consensus round here, prior to all the recent noise, was that this was to be Milney's last year..
& yes his form hasn't exactly been up to his usual standard. But I think this presumption is far off the mark.
Revealed as much in recent interviews (over the past month) with Scott & players, Milne himself, was the desire to go round again.
In one interview I saw, Scott in particular really backed Milne & his worth around the club/the new young crop - beyond his on field form.
Basically alluding he had at least another year in him. A view I very much shared even though Stevie wasn't exactly wowing me each week..
& it makes sense, with the small forwards we're currently trialing, & probably more to come.. The mentoring is just as important now as individual form from the old guard.
Picture our win tomorrow.. without Milne in the circle leading the chorus.
This is why I believe Scott wants to make the absolute most out of his aging champ. Hell, any club with that kind of heart & soul player would.
Recent events certainly muddy the future waters a little..
But I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe Milney has a little more left to offer than most think.

Some champions know when to go , some need a tap on the shoulder !
Whilst he is one of the best clubmen , we've ever had , footy is a business.
So i have faith in whatever decision the club makes !

Ironically he was just getting back into form when the sky fell. He certainly still got something to offer if he is available. So hard to know what will happen though.

I see Phil Cleary, that self-appointed spokesman for the feminist movement/former bush-league footballer/media loving serial pest, has bought into the Milne saga. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-or ... 6667079629

His form says that this is his last year.
One solid game in 10.
Not even sure of the viability of having any specialist small forwards in the side going forward, let alone 4-5.
We are going backwards if he plays next year. IMO.
Maybe he could work behind the scenes like Hamil & Hudgeton, if he gets through this situation.
Great player, great clubman, but all good things come to an end.

Why do the journos that say they are trying to help the victim write prejudging articles. It will give the trial less chance of a fair hearing and if anything lessen her chances of prosecuting him. Even the way Cleary wrote it says I don't think she wants revenge but the article suggests that she wants him to pay for being used I wouldn't want him on my side if I was her.
I was at a school event last night for my kids and the hysteria around Milne is crazy- sensible people were building this huge chinese whispers case against him. Apparently the whole case was handled by police that were best mates with Milne and drank with him every weekend. It had senior VP all complicit -trainers at the club the main detectives, all evidence burnt and got more impassioned from there. I still say they will have to have the trial interstate because he is so universally tarnished from innuendo and gossip the case can not be heard fairly.
I'm glad for it to be heard once and for all but he is entitled to the same trial as any other member of society.

He will get a fir trial. There are much bigger cases than this and I havent heard anyone ever say that it wasnt a fir trial. Lovett had all sorts of things written about him before his trial and he was found not guilty.

Re: Milney's expiry date - fact or fiction?
He went back to back All Australian just 9 months ago. He's kicked a goal in every game this year, in fact, every game since Round 13, 2011.
His first half of the year hasn't been up to his usual standard, but if he finishes the year well and has the ability and desire to continue, the club will have a very tough call to make.
Let's just hope it does end up being the club's call.

"Milne this week was charged with repeatedly raping the woman at teammate Leigh Montagna's Highett home after celebrations for the St Kilda club's family day in 2004."
...clearly an incorrect statement ..on two counts.......he's yet to be formally charged......and no body knows as yet apart from the coppers what the actual charges will be.....

Well I hope Milney and his lawyers know what the charges are. What an absurd nightmare that would be if they were in the dark as well.

presumably they are proceeding by summons...so milney won't get to know until served.....SaintPav wrote:stinger wrote:Furphy wrote:I see Phil Cleary, that self-appointed spokesman for the feminist movement/former bush-league footballer/media loving serial pest, has bought into the Milne saga. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-or ... 6667079629
