New President
I've decided to still post this up, despite the proceedings of today.
I've heard posters here wanting a new high profile president, like Eddie, Jeff, Frank Costa etc, which is fine, I'd like one along those lines who will be a proactive voice for the club and get us back to where we were and hopefully go one better.
However, I am finding it hard to find a high profile successful business/media/governmental person, other than Lindsay Fox who fits the criteria we are seeking.
Anyone have any ideas who could be, or who they would SERIOUSLY want to be president.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Re: New President
Gudinski would be ideal, if he has the passion, so would Bana, but he's making too much money in Hollywood.
Shane Warne, is an interesting one, and he does have the passion.

Michael Gudinski, he has been constantly successful in the music business which is a very tough business.3rd generation saint wrote:I've decided to still post this up, despite the proceedings of today.

Re: New President
This may be a little controversial but what about Grant Thomas? He certainly would be high profile not unlike Jeff Kennett at the Hawks. Very opinionated but a passionate Saints supporter!

Re: New President
Warne and Bana would have the public profile to get stuff done but do they know anything about running a footy club?

Why stop with the president.
This pack of Demetriou toadies need to sacked.
We all know what "decision made after consulation with the AFL" means.
Don't expect the players to show guts when going for the ball when the club's board has no balls.

Re: New President
The next President will probably be a bit busy over the coming month or so when he also returns from Italy. Jack Rush QC I would believe.
As far as supporters are concerned we appear to be our own worst enemies. This is not really a friendly site and I have found the Robert Harvey Room on level 2 to be fairly dispiriting. People not acknowledging one another and making a racket when the guests are speaking. The only feeling of comraderie came from the time in Wellington which really was special.

four very valid comments.......we seem to have some of the rudest and nastiest supporters i have had the misfortune to come across.......i actually have difficulyy accepting their rudeness in the robert harvey room...unbelievable conduct actually......resaintlee wrote:The next President will probably be a bit busy over the coming month or so when he also returns from Italy. Re: New President
Being a good President is not about being "flashy" or "strong" or "controversial" in the media.
Yes it works for Eddie. Exceptional circumstances.
But this was not Frank Costa's style and he was brilliant for Geelong. Nor was it Richard Colless' style and he has been brilliant for the Swans. Nor was it Ian Dicker's style and he was brilliant for Hawthorn. And nor is it Gary March's style and he has turned Richmond around completely.
We have probably the 2nd or 3rd most outstanding board in the AFL.
There are 3 excellent candidates from the current board and any of them will do an excellent job.
If you want high profile and media performer, Jack Rush would fit the bill nicely. But I am not sure this is the right criteria to select someone.
