Sounds like a VERY impressive group !!

A lot of self congratulations going on today. Why are these directors any more impressive than directors of other clubs or those we had before?

Don't think we've ever had anyone with international senior management experience in one of the world's largest energy and resource companies (Shell - Russell Caplan).

Don't think we've ever had arguably the most respected insolvency practitioner in Australia on our board, or anyone equivalent (Paul Kirk).

Don't think we've ever had one of the best QC's in the country on our board (Jack Rush), a man with impeccable AFL and government connections.


Compared to the directors they are replacing - Levin & Gdanski - these three are in another league again. These are guys who would comfortably sit on the boards of ASX Top 50 public companies (and they do).

They sound very impressive. It's also very impressive just that our club can draw upon this level of heavy-hitting managerial power.

... and I just hope we are never again in the position where Paul Kirk's area of expertise is required...

Also, a nudge to Russell C... Russ, the club needs a major sponsor... Go well...

She has held finance and commercial positions with Telstra, has been a Director at UBS, a partner at Evans and Partners and was a crucial player in the re-shaping of Australian hockey as a director of Hockey Australia.

“We’ve changed that enormously,” Roche said of Hockey Australia.

“We’ve grown the revenue, improved the sponsorship and got some great management people in there.”

Roche said her experiences in hockey held her in good stead for a role with an AFL club.

Which directors left

Ross Levin and John Gdanski have both been on the board for a decade, both are stepping down.

We have added 2 new directors as well as replacing those two, but Westaway is finishing up in February and possibly one other director may stand down at the same time (8 is about the right number for a football club).

8 is about the right number for a footbal club, but we only have one so far and I can't see us winning another one in the next few years.

You can bet someone will want them sacked come this time next year.
But seriously, this is terrific and the club, despite being located so far away in Seaford is attracting great talent both on and off the field.
Club will turn a profit this year too, I believe.

Being a long term Saint, I say -SACK 'EM ALL NOW and sack the coach in a bulk deal, AND get out of Seaford.

God time to make Danni Roche the new president I reckon, or announce the succession plan ASAP. Good for image of club especially with the women.

First female AFl president will win the women back our club after the Milne stuff and school girl bulls*** saga.

Great credentials, would be a strategic, winning move I feel.

That insolvency guy is perfect. When Dimwit gathers directors of the 18 clubs together for a meeting, he can be our rep; when the topic of the Demons is raised, he can go "ahem...fellas, I believe I can speak from experience..."

These heavy hitters should bring in big corporate dollars, but the only way to grow the membership past 30k, is sustained on-field success. Top 4 ideally will invite more membership. More bums on seats.
These ppl, particularly Danni R, would formulate plans & strategies, and important benchmarks and targets. Danni with the Hockey experience is vital to the cause.
The coaching staff need to have a clear vision and targets which, when achieved, can demonstrate improvement to the Board.
Very important time for the club if we are to elevate above the Third-World countries (GWS, NM, Bulldogs)
