Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
White was very good today. Continually man handled, as he was worrying his opponent, took them out on the lead very well and picked it up very clean every time off the deck. Guessing he would've had it around 15 times and I don't think a debut is as far away as most of you think.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
the AFL reporter needs to clear up his his sources-- seems alittle confused
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-16/s ... arran-sosoBrendan Whitecross had a solid outing for Box Hill on Sunday, returning from the ACL injury suffered in last year's qualifying final against Collingwood.
Xavier Ellis moved closer to a senior return after another strong performance for the Hawks.
St Kilda-listed forward Trent Dennis-Lane continued his purple patch in front of goal, registering another five majors in Sandringham's loss to Box Hill. (did not play)
Tom Ledger (23 disposals) and Brodie Murdoch (three goals) also contributed for the Zebras.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
First Sandy game I've ever been to at Sandy, I've only ever seen them play at Box Hill, near where I live.
Gotta say the small ground really gets the crowd into the game, whenever Sandy got on a roll.
As for saints player reviews from today's game, the positives were:
Ledger who is developing a tank, improving his disposal by both feet and got better as the game wore on.
White who is very raw and was outmuscled regularly by Spangher, who was BOG for Box Hill, but White really showed something whenever he played up the ground and hunted the footy and took the game on, demanding the ball far more effectively than Lee or Kosi.
Murdoch looks to have a cool head, hard body, lethal left foot and certainly knows where the goals are.
Milera, who did what a wiil'o'the wisp half forward should do from limited opportunities on a slippery day, although he can't lay a decent tackle.
Lever and this will surprise people, because this kid is only 19 and versatile, but didn't get much of the footy, although he was regularly directing other players to run to position and provide options (especially Lee, who really needed some direction today!)
Dunell just needs to put on five kilos, because he knows exactly where to run and how to make something out of nothing, what a smart goal!
Curren, who's work ethic was tremendous, although he missed a very easy set shot in the second quarter.
Anyone who I haven't mentioned or haven't mentioned in a positive light shouldn't be considered for promotion this week.

So if The Virus can't land a decent tackle in the ressies then IMO even though he kicked 5 goals he's no certainty to get an AFL call up. He urgently needs to learn a defensive side to his game.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
Kosi played well and imposed himself on the game.
Really impressed with White. He was beaten but showed freakish athletic ability for a big man. His recovery, speed and agility is amazing.
He just needs to strengthen up a bit - he was monstered when he played out of the goal square.
And to add to the Lee debate - he spent quite a bit of time in the ruck - but wasn't very effective.
Also not so impressed by Milera - yes he is a good set shot - but he helped create a few goals the other way with ineffective handballs and tackles.
TDL and Saad are ahead of him in the 2nd small forward stakes.
Great game - Sandy nearly pinched it - but it would have been an injustice!

Maybe he comes in instead of Kosi? I'd like to see the big lug get his 200 though.savatage wrote:White was very good today. If Saad is ahead of Terry at the moment, Terry must be really struggling. I'd personally take Terry with his deficiencies over Saad and his atm. Which deficiencies are worse?Enrico_Misso wrote:Kosi played well and imposed himself on the game.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
Agreed brother, though Im keeping in mind that if milera wants to head back to sa at the end of the year that there may not be any major point in playing him aside from possible trade value.
Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
any player that can't pressure, tackle, do the 1%ers is not needed atm. sorry tez ya need to harden up.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
Agreed but there's also logic in not selecting players that can't actually do anything apart from being tackled (like saad).
He has made an artform out of being tackled instantly with the ball.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
I wouldn't play either Saad or Milera, I'd give Murdoch a shot at mid/forward.

Re: VFL: Sandringham vs Box Hill Hawks
He wouldn't take their spots though. I'd be trying to pump games into minchington but I have no idea where he's at with his injury.

You can't teach clean hands. I fear for Ahmed. He looks like a vfl footballer to me.

There was a lot of whispering going on between Tony Micale and the medical staff in the second half, especially around three quarter time. I'm pretty sure someone was playing injured without fessing up.

Kosi played most of 2nd half with broken/dislocated finger. Was in ton pain on bench but they taped his fingers together have him magic spray and pain killers and sent him back out there. That's when he started to dominate!
Tom Lee had Achilles issues again.
Josh Saunders looked like he was injured aswell. Was getting bit of treatment on bench
