I just hope we win whatever game is played there next, as the novelty might just wear off.

So Netters in the first article wants another Anzac Day fixture and in the second wants a n earlier start time. Can't have both, unless its a 1.10pm NZ time start which is 11.10am AEST.

i understand the financial side of nz but every game
they take away from our home is getting supporters
used to not going to the footy

also the afl will give us
a game against wce or crows so we will find it hard
to win while rebuilding and still send us to 6 interstate games

Sorry, but great move by the club and will inject vital cash that we need and build a new support base. Members get make-up games in melbourne so i dont see any problem. If supporterssigned up every yesr the club would not have to do it, 32,442 members just dosent cut it.

I think it was plugger66 who said that next year's ANZAC Day clash will be against Brisbane !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

The Club can wish an earlier start time all they like...their is no way the AFL, CH 7 or Foxtel will want it overlapping Ess v Coll. Won't happen in a million years.

What about 11.10am Melbourne time? Wouldn't rate as well as 5.40pm but would fit in.

I would beliive that the agreement between the AFL and the RSL would be no game/s before the 12 noon that shops and businesses hold to in the majority..... untill the march is over.

Was nothing wrong with the start time - gave us a full day to do other things in wellington. Lots of great walking tracks around town and good hiking trails a very short drive away.
And the game did not finish very late at all - do Kiwis have a curfew?

It's all relative - compared to the other sports that get played in Wellington (Union, League and Soccer) the AFL runs a lot longer, most of these sports would finish around 9.30 for a 8pm kick-off.

The only hope of a change of time in NZ is if the AFL change the Filth and the Junkies (or whoever the Pies end up playing when they're booted) to a night game in Melb - something Eddie has suggested before. We essentially become the curtain raiser then.

As for 2014, I believe Freo has rights to play a home game on Anzac day as it falls in a normal match time-slot (Friday night). Has anyone heard this, or am I making it up??

It could happen a couple of years earlier IF Ch7 wield enough influence to get the Ess V Coll game changed to a NIGHT GAME. Or we could get a look in for 2014 & 2015 when Collingwood will be conducting closed Training Sessions on the MCG on ANZAC Day !!
