Webster Wright Roberton
There is for good reason plenty of critical analysis about our team at the moment most of it pretty gloomy , but when I think of these three running out of defence for thenext few years things don't seem so bad . Each look to have that something special about them. All good kicks and good hands all have pace and all are tough as miners wives.. Great recruiting they may be the cornerstone to build our future team around.

Couldn't have said it better myself...
Roberton has been A Grade this year
Wright IMO is our next out and out gun
Webster looks to be extremely handy

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
I'm pretty happy with these three blokes . Huge positives for us.
Even though our ladder position is much worse - I am much more positive than I was 12 months ago.

I know wright is playing in a back pocket, but does anyone else think he is well suited as an in and under on baller in the future engine room? His build looks pretty well suited. Once he puts on some more beef, he looks like he'll be pretty powerful!

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
Ideally these three do not become halfbacks and they actually become midfielders that can defend when needed.
We do not need our next players to become backpockets or floating halfbacks.
Mids please

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
Wright, Webster, Newnes, Steven, Armitage, Ross will be our core midfield in the next 2 years. Add to that the potential of Markworth, Saunders and Murdoch. Te midfield looks ok, we still need to pick up a couple of more in the next draft

Agree. I liken him physically to Judd, yes seriously. However he is a very intelligent defender. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the middle for while.Saint wagga wrote:I know wright is playing in a back pocket, but does anyone else think he is well suited as an in and under on baller in the future engine room? Re: Webster Wright Roberton
I have a feeling Webster will always be a HB and there is nothing wrong with that. If you are a good kick and decision maker then that is a great spot to launch the side forward.

I am hoping we even have jimmy websters brother after this years draft to add to our future midfield.

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
Wright, I'm sure, will move into the midfield next year. Hopefully, Newnes will be able to, as well. However, we really need to grab a young midfielder of exceptional class at this year's draft, not to mention key defenders. It's a daunting shopping list

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
Wright is a midfield beast but won't get there much as he will get bashed. Why would risk him ? Doubt they will till next year.
Roberton is the Fisher clone will play 10 years if injury free.
Webster is our equiv of Suckling (Haw) off half back line.
Markworth is Steve Johnson clone except taller just hope he does not get injured again this guy has tricks.
We need 4 more quality mids hopefully Scharenburg & Crouch are 2 of them.

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
This is just by-the-by and probably will be more palatable to digest now that frustrations have simmered since Sunday but there has been a lot of positives to this year outside of the losses and the players mentioned in this thread are just a few I reckon. The big hope is that they go on with it.
I'd like to see Simpkin back in the team soon and hopefully continue on from where he finished last season.

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
All very exciting - I agree. My only concern about Wright is he doesn't seem to have one 'self preservation' gene in his body. Would hate to be his mum.

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
I would like to see Webster and Wright up on the wing, a good mixture of dash and footskills. Murdoch looks like a logical shoe-in for a future HBF role, and I was surprised how natural NDS looked in the backline during the North game, maybe this move could work? Newnes on a HFF might be worth a try.

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
See I reckon we almost need Murdoch (Bull) in the middle once Lenny goes. There's got to be one big body in there.

Enright is one if the best players of the modern era, I'd behappy with that bobsaintbob wrote:Wright to the pivot, Webster on a wing and Roberton will become our own version of Corey Enright.
