Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
That's the excuses I've heard about everyone who has a bad game?!
Fisher... Apparently injured
Hickey... Apparently injured
Gwilt..... Possibly injured
McEvoy ..... Must be injured
And every other player who has a poor one... Must be an injury, or they're carrying something.... Rubbish I reckon
Although we did play someone less than 100% last week and paid for it

Don't know about the others.

Injured or ILL?
It appeared that a lot of the guys just didn't seem to have much energy today. Has there been a cold/flu go through the club? Just asking !!

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
90% of the guys who take to the field as an AFL player are playing 'injured'. It's just a convenient excuse for apologists to trot out when they play poorly. Lingering effects from injuries that aren't quite healed or niggles that cause discomfort are part of being a professional footballer.
The only time guys would truly play injured (as in something that seriously restricts them) would be in September or in crucial H&A games with their season on the line. It's not an excuse for anyone at St Kilda right now.

Sam Fisher looked like he didn't want to kick the ball today. Looking for a handball option almost every time he got the ball. Some say foot, some say groin. Whichever it is, he's doing it tough !!

p66;
If you are certain they aren't injured why make a statement in another thread that claims you aren't sure;
And..... if Lenny re-injured the same calf then that's amateur stuff from him and from the club

Which is it?? I suppose the point is that they declare themselves fit, so there's no excuses once they're out there.plugger66 wrote: You do realise he has hardly rucked. Suggests an injury to me.

What are you talking about? These guys who follow me around flatter me but honestly there are others writing equally as stupid stuff as me. Obviously geelong are into amateur hour. Menzall keeps doing his knee. Imagine if the club knew what they were doing.

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
Has anybody noticed McEvoy seems to have lost a lot of weight in the past month? Doesn't have the same strength in contests he had earlier in the year and now gets bufferted out in marking contest by smaller players. Several times in the second half I confused him in the centre for Stanley. Is it overtraining or is it possible he has a glandular flu type virus?

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
Yes - We were saying last night looking at the game on TV that McEvoy seems a lot thinner than he was a few weeks ago.
Was it the Carlton game he played really well and then hardly taken a mark since then but has lost a lot of weight?

His foot is the issue and requires pain killers to play....not sure why he is even playing - perhaps he may be rested now in light of how the season is tracking.

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
I've wondered about similar for a few weeks... There are some nasty bugs about (including gastro), I'm just getting over a (sinus, throat, ear) one that kept coming back over 5 - 6 weeks, and I've known a few others in the same boat, even after a course of antibiotics.Eastern wrote:Injured or ILL?

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
Fisher is definitely injured (foot) but given their lack of experience , they have little choice.
Riewoldt's knee is not great last 2 weeks too.
Hickey's hip not good , but being managed as they desperate to get games into him.
Going to get ugly last few games as the longer term experienced players will be put in cotton wool to get thru preseason to hit ground running next year.

And speedier.
I kept wondering where the big tractor was was.
There was no one around to take pack marks.
Obviously he's not shorter. But it's weird -- he seems to have shrunk.

Re: Why is everyone playing 'injured'?
It's time to get Fisher right. He is playing injured and not able to compete. The same should go for any others carrying fairly serious injuries. Our losses don't really matter now.
