The future
Listing current players on the list born no earlier than 1989, therefore making them young enough to possibly be a part of the next team harboring premiership aspirations, ie. "St.kilda v. SWatters" (with personal opinion of players potential included - "tick," "cross," or "never seen him"):
1 Tom Hickey - Cross for me, looks too slow, but reserve right to cast ultimate judgement in 3-5 years.
2 Aaron Siposs - "tick." Biggest goddam tick of the bunch, IMO. Future captain.
3 Jack Steven - "tick"
5 Ben McEvoy - "tick"
6 Seb Ross - "tick"
9 Tom Lee - "cross"
10 Daniel Markworth - "never seen him"
15 Tom Ledger - "cross"
16 Jack Newnes - Last year "cross," this year "tick"
17 Dylan Roberton - "tick"
18 Spencer White - "never seen him"
21 Ahmed Saad - last year "tick," this year "cross"
28 Rhys Stanley - "tick"
29 Jimmy Webster - feotal stages, but "tick"
30 Brodie Murdoch - "Never seen him"
31 Tom Simpkin - "tick"
34 Nathan Wright - "tick"
35 Josh Saunders - "never seen him"
36 Jay Lever - "never seen him"
38 Sam Dunell - "tick"
39 Cameron Shenton - "never seen him"
40 Jordan Staley - "never seen him"
41 Darren Minchington - "never seen him"
43 Tom Curren - "never seen him"
42 Lewis Pierce - "never seen him"
45 Jackson Ferguson - "never seen him"
The seeds of the next great St.Kilda team (we hope) lie within this list, folks, to be weeded and pressure tested and mixed with high draft picks over the next five years in order to yield a strong core of steel...
Anyone seen the players I haven't? Thoughts, opinions?

"Too big, too strong, too whatever."
Re: The future
Wasn't this said about Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Ball, Goddard etc ten years ago?
And Loewe, Harvey, Burke, etc ten years before that?
The never ending delusion of STK fans will never cease to amuse and amaze me.

Re: The future
Considering it's more than likely we'll finish towards the foot of th table, it's more than likely we'll get some high draft picks. So hopefully we'll be able to add a few more potentials to the list by next year.hungry for a premiership wrote:The seeds of the next great St.Kilda team (we hope) lie within this list, folks, to be weeded and pressure tested and mixed with high draft picks over the next five years in order to yield a strong core of steel...

All I see from Siposs at the moment is he will be playing at sandy very shortly. He is one young player that I can safely say has gone backwards. And people actually thought he may replace BJ. At the moment he is replacing no one. Time for a rocket and this could be the perfect player to see if SW can develop players.

Re: The future
Is Sippos the most over hyped player on our list ATM?
I like him, but being compared to Goddard pre season, and now a future captain is way above any output he has produced so far...

Re: The future
Very disappointed with Siposs, gone backwards. Lee needs to come into the forward line. Time to bring Dunnell in too.Spinner wrote:plugger66 wrote:All I see from Siposs at the moment is he will be playing at sandy very shortly. Re: The future
He showed a bit in a few games late in the 2012 season that get everyone excited. He's still really young so I think the only myth we needed to uncover was the comparison to Goddard which I think was more hope than anything else.kimberly saint wrote:dont you have to have a good first season first ????Spinner wrote:Cairnsman wrote:Could you say some of the players that are down this year are suffering second year blues, could you put Sippo in that category?

Re: The future
Yeah dunno about Siposs yet, a bit early to write off Lee from only 1.5 games… Dunell should be getting a game this year if he was in any way good.hungry for a premiership wrote:2 Aaron Siposs - "tick." Biggest goddam tick of the bunch, IMO. Future captain.

Loved the way Newnes gave it to the North players in the goal square after Thomas kicked a goal. He didn't take a backward step.

Re: The future
We clearly overrate our list as majority of folks outside the club would label pretty much all of those guys as GOPs with limited potential other than seb who is picking up some hype. Oh and maybe Roberton

Re: The future
It's hard to tell how they will develop, but there doesn't seem to be any "likely stars" there for us.
Like others, I was very keen on Sippo's potential. I watched him very closely against the Dogs and felt that he lacked intensity/interest in attacking the ball. Clearly, the Coaches will be asking for more, but he has slipped back this year.
Our mids are clearly underdone and inexperienced, but all we can do at the moment, is to play them and see who develops. A high Draft pick this year may enable us to pick up some top prospects - it's down to good recruiting. We only have another two years before we lose our best and most experienced players.

Re: The future
It will be 3 or4 years of GWS vs GCS grand finals from about 2015 to 2018, so really no need to worry about the next five years anyway
