Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
Oh well, Crippa managed to get back to his home state but might have sacrificed his football career in the process. I dare say he'd be getting regular games if he was still with us but going over to the Weagles was always going to be a tough gig given that they've got a lot of pretty talented similar sized players. He started well initially but was dropped 3 - 4 weeks ago and can't even crack it as an emergency these days......have we seen the last of young JC?
Would include Tommy Walsh at the Swans in this category as well - pissed us off and was going to be the new Irish superstar taking over from where Tadgh Keneally left off.....things don't always go the way you plan them to

Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
I suppose Tommy Walsh is still persisting. Named at Full-Forward for this week.
Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
Trains well though.... When there's no opposition to worry about.
He'll always get a game early season, after tearing up the track over the summer.... The get dropped
He'll probably be delisted this year or next.
The WAFL will suit him, big open grounds and lots of uncontested footy....

Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
You would know all about that. Can you tell us more about your footy career?
Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
Sad to see him leave however I never rated that highly...He req a lot of improvement to make it and not sure he had it in him...Very good endurance just not physically suited to the game.....Yet at least IMO.

Who did we get for Cripps?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
We gave up Cripps and #46 and got back #41 and #44. These became #40 and #43 after Adelaide lost their 1st round pick.
We then used these two picks on Brodie Murdoch and Josh Saunders.
The pick sent to West Coast they used in the draft on Brant Colledge, a 192cm utility player.
We sent our upgraded third round pick (#57 to #47 in the Tom Hickey trade) to Sydney for TDL. Sydney then picked up Tim Membrey, another medium mid/forward type who was viewed as a slider in the draft.

Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
basically we got Murdoch or Saunders for Cripps....
we got pick 40 and used it on Murdoch but also got a slight upgrade from 46 to 44 (something like that).. we used the upgraded pick on Saunders but in all likelihood we would have got Saunders 2 picks later anyway.... at picks in the 40s most clubs have slightly different players being next on their list so it is unlikely he would have gone
and of course Murdoch may well have made it to 46, which we would have had if we kept Cripps.. in which case we would have not got Saunders
So... one can never really tell precisely but I think Murdoch for Cripps is the closest description of what we got...
the stupid thing IMO was getting TDL ....

Oh.. and I would not write Cripps off just yet. Lots of players improve at 22/23.... he is just turned 21... judge him next season, where he needs to start playing well....

What did we get for Walsh? Was it newnes? Good trading with 20/20 hindsight! I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about the Irish 'superstar'

If Cripps didn't want to go home we wouldn't have picked up TDL so technically we replaced Cripps with TDL.

West Coast got craps for Cripps
In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

The young guy wanted to go home, much like a certain player we picked up.
Wanted to play in front of his family and friends every second match.
Understandable.
Don't pick on him for that.

Going as well as Aaryn "We don't need Goddard" Siposs is going this year... Albeit in a far better team and more difficult to break into that ours.
Year is tracking fairly I would suggest. Young player, breaking into a new team.

Lets not forget you we're writing him off because there was no picture on him on draft day. Thus the only conclusion is that whatever you think or say means nothing.

Jamie Cripps, in 5 games... averaging... 9.4 disposals (4.6 effective), 2.4 marks, 1.0 goals, 1.8 inside 50s and 4.4 tackles per game.Spinner wrote:Going as well as Aaryn "We don't need Goddard" Siposs is going this year... Albeit in a far better team and more difficult to break into that ours.

Arryn Sippos, in 6 games... averaging... 11.8 disposals (8.8 effeective), 4.0 marks, 1.0 goals, 1.0 inside 50s and 1.7 tackles per game.
Basically Sippa is getting more of the ball and using it more effectively than Cripps, who is providing more defensive pressure than Arryn.

Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
Yeah, spinner your point would be proven.... If he actually cut the mustard. You could mock me all you like, when he proves he can play ok.
We had Pick 24
Developed him for 2 years and got pick 40 odd for him. Since then he's been dropped. Truth is, he is s***! Lets be honest. 5 effective disposals a game...
Btw ..... Was were there photos of the first 60 players drafted, except for Cripps? Not a reason he shouldn't have been drafted... He was rated 15-40 but its unusual a kid who played rep had no pic?
I'll be honest, when I first noticed it, I did go.... Here we go again, another Roughie who was not expected to go as high as our first pick... And I hoped for another player well known, as I did in 2008
Howard, Lynch, Armitage.... All taken well before expected

We are luckily enough that Roberton is playing well and not the other way around.

Then why bother reading or answering his posts...especially if BM is bagging an ex Saint who faaarked us off...you complained when BM had a dig at him when he was with us and you do the same thing and bag SipossSpinner wrote:BigMart wrote:Trains well though.... Re: Be careful what you wish for...Jamie Cripps
Gee, he would have really complimented our team this season. Perhaps could have played a Jason Gram type role with some run and carry out of defense, which seems to be sorely lacking right now.
A little too soon to say his career could be over. He's still only 21 and if he struggles to get a game with WCE, the Dockers may be interested in him, providing he still had his heart on staying in the West. After all he was drafted when RL was in charge.
But anyway, to hell with what happens to him. He was given the hallowed #35 and pretty much treated us with contempt in the end.
